*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

Looking to get one of these but dont know where i should buy it from.
Affordablemobiles and dial a phone have great deals but how reliable are these places? The last thing i want is problems because i bought it on a contract from a rubbish place. Anyone have any experiance with these? My last phone was bought 5 years ago directly from orange but for this theres much better deals on other sites.

Okay, now is this video guide good to use, and will it help me root my O2 Note 2 GT7100

????? Want to root it later on tonight when I get back, and just have to be sure, I don't want any custom roms, not yet at least... only want to move apps to sd and check out that new panoramic photo sphere in 4.2!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I seem to be missing half a 10p of screen recognition with the S pen half way up on the right I only noticed as I'm now playing draw

Its exactly under where the magnet is on my credit card case anyone else the same ?

This thread, use this file (root and CWM recovery in one) > CWM Recovery with auto root(Unrar, Flash cwm6-root-n7100.tar via odin): cwm6-root-n7100-121015.rar

Grab Odin and root install method from this thread with the file above.

Backup efs folder and make a nandroid copy of your stock install from CWM recovery. Then you can safely change what you like.

what glitches? unless you yank the usb cable out mid-flash or drop the phone and the battery flies out or something it'll be fine. samsung made it very easy. no encryption or anything.

Does anyone know if EE-based companies are still the only ones providing 4G Note 2 handsets, or are they trickling out of other providers now? I have no intention of paying the laughable EE prices for 4G, but I'm looking to the future when the Note 2 I intend to buy is out of contract and there should be more realistic prices.

I'm also on the lookout for a 4G version - not only because of future-proofing (as I don't live anywhere near 4G) but also because I hear it supports higher 3G speeds?
So far all I can find is lol money on the 'bay. :(

Is anyone on t-mobile here that can show me their APN settings as I don't think mine are correct, the settings shown on the t-mobile site don't seem to work? ??
Not on a note, but these are the apn settings I entered on my S3. (Lost all my original apns after updating to jellybean.)

Mcc 234
Mnc 30
Everything else is not set.

Boot from your new recovery and look in back ups, you'll find an option to create the nandroid directly.

You'll have to speak in a language that somebody who is new to android completley will be able to understand :(

What new recovery? The efs.img? How do i boot from that? Where in backups...?

Thanks for all your help

Well the phone comes with a recovery mode. It's a separate little boot section independent of the main rom. In standard form it not a lot of use, but if you flashed the file above you've installed the clockwork mod recovery aka, CWM. Now with that CWM recovery you can do all kinds of neat things, least of which flash custom roms or pre-prepared zip files with minor mods, themes or updates. Also clear caches, make backups etc.

To access, turn off phone, then hold VolUp+Home+Power to boot. Once you have a decent rom installed on you can boot directly to CWM from the on/off button. Backups are obvious when you get in there. Note: When you flash a new rom it leaves the CWM alone, if you flash an entire stock firmware it'll overwrite the recovery with the stock one. Oh and the custom roms are pre-rooted.

Thank you so much. I'd be lost without you currently. Coming from an iphone 4, this is my first android device. Never going back to apple but I knew quite a lot about jailbreak. I might try out custom roms soon but I primarily wanted to root to move some apps to the sd card.

It says can't mount backup path
http://www.thriveforums.org/forum/toshiba-thrive-development/10937-cant-mount-backup-path.html
I have a 64GB sd card and I don't think CWM works with 64GB cards.... I'll have to move an app2sd and then just do it on the internal and move it :(

There's supposedly this flash counter? How do i reset it to avoid voiding my warranty?

No reason not to try out a rom once you have the stock nandroid, simple 'as' to flash your stock one back over. The flash counter is displayed in the download mode, grab a copy of your stock firmware and buy 'Triangle Away' from the Play store. To reset the phone, run the Triangle Away app then directly flash the stock firmware and reformat the SD & clear cache. Obviously only really needed if you're selling on or sending back, nothing to it tbh.

Or you could get 'triangle away' free from the xda forums, although it is always good to donate to the devs. :) I've used it on my old S3 and was surprised how easy it was to use, as always I recommend watching a youtube video first.

I always point to the bought versions when available to support the likes of Chainfire. You can then ask for support if needed and you also get the updates automatically.

Okay a general question... I'm not flashing any roms yet, or ever.... Only using gl to sd and app2sd, and maybe a few other things on xda like the 4.2 camera panoramic option

I don't need to use this triangle program yet do I? Can I just leave all this rooting business for a few days? :P

I used the inbuilt navigation in the car throughout the day today, and i noticed my usual car charger was not charging this as it has my previous phones.
The phone recognised it was plugged in i.e. the charging sign was on the phone, but the phone didnt get charged completely.
The strange thing is, that it didn't drain the battery either, but went down slowly. So its not providing enough power to charge by the looks of it.
Does the note2 need a more specific car charger with a bit more oomph?
