hopefully you will get a speedy resolution from your insurance company, but check your level of cover first so they don't go increasing your premium just for calling them to tell them you're a clumsy pants and dropped something. Hopefully it didn't hertz too much.

3) Shell out for a new monitor

dunno, I find it's quite a convenient location for the first floor of a house. Although maybe that's better off at the bottom too

Your insurance may cover this but aspect a hefty excess to be paid. I once dropped my laptop on a solid stone floor so I know how much this Hz.
