*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

I bought mine from the high street and had to take it back a few weeks ago as the screen went all funny. They sent it back to Asus for me and I had a replacement after a week I think.

You don't get the £15 play voucher now I don't think. The £25 voucher was for people who bought a Nexus 7 before the price drop. Up to 31st October I think.

I picked mine up today from the high street pc shop. It was £213 for the 32GB and the official case. You also get £20 cashback that you have to claim after 30 days. There was no voucher or anything included.

Just bought a Nexus 7 32GB and got a £10 voucher back for spending over £100 from that high street catalogue store - not sure if I can say their name on here?

Thought it was meant to come with 4.2 installed - mine came with 4.1.2, but 15 minutes after turning it on, my 4.2 update appeared ready to install, finished about 5 minutes later!

4.2. Battery life seems a lot better than 4.1.

I took it off charge at 1pm and its still on 100%. I have hardly used it but wifi has been on constantly. Also, I put it in Aeroplane mode last night at 71% and 10 hours later it was still at 71%.

So far so good for 4.2.

The official cases at £25 must be the worst quality case I think I have ever seen in my life. I paid £3 once for a case on ebay which was of significantly higher quality

I agree with you the official cases are a rip off. I shopped elsewhere and got a decent wallet style case with a magnetic clasp which switches the screen on/off and a screen protector all for a fiver :D

The official cases are the best for adding the lease amount of bulk to the 7 tho.

Although I have ditched mine now and just use it bare around the house and put it in a padded sleeve that cost me 2 quid when I want to take it anywhere.

I got both my cases from Amazon. Cost about 13 quid for the two, a USB keyboard one and a regular one. Both really good quality.

I think the update has helped battery life as I'd normally have to charge by now and I still have over half left. Don't like the swiping keyboard though.

Guys there seems to be a problem with the Nexus 7, not sure if its to do with 4.2 update or not.

'IF' you leave the machine on and run the battery down, when it reaches 1% it does its auto power down. When you come to connect the power cable, it charges up enough the start the boot sequence, then gets itself in a reboot cycle. Mine did this last night and took me ages to fix it.

To be honest, I was just about to return it to the shop as faulty.

Mine would boot to the screen where you enter your pin code (if you have one that is). When I started to enter the numbers the screen switched to static like on the old CRT TVs when they needed tuning in, before going into the dreaded reboot cycle.

The only way I managed to fix it was to remove the power cable, power off completely, put the cable back in and hope it wouldn't switch itself on again. When it has a good bit of charge, say after an hour, I switched it back on again and this time it worked.

Had me worried for a while. The tablet/android forums are full of people having the same issue, many have been told my google customer services to exchange them as they are faulty

I recently got a N7 from Currys (direct from store) and unfortunately mine has a quite a lot of creaking, screen lift and backlight bleeding. Apart from that it works fine, but even for £200 I think this is not at all acceptable. Rarely buy stuff from brick and mortar stores anymore, so what are the chances I can get a refund/replacement? Anyone had a similiar experience with Currys?

If it's faulty you would be entitled to have it replaced or refunded. It definitely sounds faulty as mine is solid with none of the things you mentioned.
