The Z77 Sabertooth Club.

I can't flash the new BIOS. get the message "The model of the BIOS image doesn't match the BIOS ROM currently present". My Sabertooth is Ver 1.

Currently on BIOS 1504.

Only ever use EZ Flash to flash bios on ASUS boards from within Bios its self. Do this using a FAT formatted USB drive.

Default Bios before and after flashing too.

Your good to go!!

Using UEFI. Tried loading from a file on HD and downloading. Haven't tried with a FAT formatted USB drive. Will try that next.

Edit: USB worked. Many thanks.

Hello friends, please, to update the bios by ez flash I need to rename the bios? By downloading the site, I get the file with, .cap, only just put it on the flash drive formatted in FAT32 and update the ez flash? Thanks.

Simply put the bios .CAP file on a FAT formatted usb stick. Do not rename the file and load it from EZ within the Bios EUFI.

I just re built my system with this board and an i5 3570K and so far I love it! Going to update bios to the new 1708 version soon.
Onboard fans are a bit whiny tho aren't they! Even turned all the way down

Latest BIOS has a renaming file which does it automatically once unzipped and moved, then run. Used it and then flashed using the included flash tool from within the BIOS, no issues to report. Like you say no need but I wanted to try this renaming tool out! lol

The onboard fans are a waste of time, not used them since the board was new and I've had no problems.

lol no i think thats just something extra for bios as it says to just put it in the same folder on usb then flash with EZ.

What are your temps like though? I see urs is i7 but how does it compare to this?

Name of the file shouldn't make any difference, but like you say that renamer is for USB BIOS Flashback it would appear.

My temps are very similar to yours, couple are lower and a couple are higher but then there are so many variables you can't really compare one persons without the fans to another persons with the fans like that. Things like room temp, case design, fan speed, room airflow, other hardware, coolers, system load, previous system load etc etc all make a difference.

Yeah I know, I'm just curious I suppose heheh. Love the board though! Finally my striker II extreme nightmare is over lol

Fans are red and front fans green as it came with Nvidia Edition the case!

Hi Guys, Sorry for this novel of a post but this **** has been a problem for over a month.

I built a friend of mine a computer with the following components;

ASUS Sabertooth Z77 (BIOS 1050)
GeForce GTX 670 4GB (KFA2) (Pre-Overclocked I believe) (this might be causing the problem?)
Intel i7 2700k @ 3.50Ghz (Stock Cooler)
Corsair HX650W Power Supply
16gb RAM DDR3 (2x 8GB in slots 1 & 3)
240Gb SSD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
HP 2229H Monitor @ 1680x1050

Got to say the machine is a beast, runs everything on MAX GTA IV, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Crysis, Dolphin ect. (legal backup of my games of course)

Unfortunately after a while of playing the system hangs & requires a reboot.
Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing this issue, seems to me like it could be a conflict of some kind but nothing stands out, also Windows Error Log doesn’t seem to show anything at the time of the crash, it makes a note of me performing a hard reset but nothing immediately before that.

I was up till about 5:30 this morning twatting around with it & I'm running out of ideas.

If you need any other specs please let me know.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Aran

Hi Aran, I would recommend updating the Bios to version 1708 to start with mate. As the board did have a few RAM compatibility glitches upon release apparently.
Try that first and see how it is after that. It's available from the Asus website, under Products/Motherboards/Sabertooth Z77/Downloads/OS/BIOS.

Give it some time and report back if the issues persist :)

Hope this helps cos the board is awesome for me so far!

Tom
