*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

just bought a nexus off the bay with a broken screen so i can fix mine with a broken usb port. is there any way to tell what size storage they are from the in side of it, it has no box and the touch screen doesn't work. the guy said he doesn't know. probably going to be a 8 or 16 but if its a 32 ill be happy because I'll just put my screen on that.

May i ask what these are like for browsing the internet / forums / facebook? I'm thinking of getting one to use mainly in bed while watching tv and ditching my laptop. However im concerned that it might not be big enough and i should go for the 10?

i thought it wouldn't be big enough but its fine. i do want a 10 but its a want not a need.
for the first parts of your question. everything is sweet. no issues with anything.

well just swapped my usb port because it was broken and i must say its very easy.

my son is now one happy boy (and me)

i used the above guide. but for anyone who follows this guide and is only changing the usb port or the head phone Jack you don't need to pull back the heat shield back and unplug the speaker. you can just put the speaker to one side. if you pull the heat shield back it bends the copper and it doesn't go back straight. so you will not be able to rma if you ever need to. i couldn't rma because the battery had died and couldn't charge it up and reflash back to stock.

just picked up a nexus 7 and have ordered the otg cable

anybody got a link to a case that also acts as a stand

was thinking earlier as well why doesnt somebody make a case with otg cable built in and slot for usb stick on the back?

loving the tablet so far

Is Daydream a closed Google only thing, or will there be a flurry of new apps on the market soon?

Something that does more than one thing would be epic. Having a news feed plus notifications and unread message and email counts plus a clock would be ideal.

Still needs Google to release the dam dock for it though!

Anyone tried a 360 or PS3 controller on this tablet ?. I have a wireless 360 controller with the usb adapter lead but the 7 doesn't pick it up. They are pretty cheap on the bay but not sure which to get

ps3 controller £9.99 - Works via bluetooth and uses its own battery.
360 wired controller £12.99 - Plugs via OTG but will draw power from the tablet

Both I think are knock off versions so might not even work lol, anyone have any experience with this ?.

good find. i was going to buy a ps3 pad for that other app (can't remember name its early) but because i have a xbox pad for my pc this is great. going to try find a "demo" first before i buy it.

Have a look on amazon there's lots of cases that fold over to make a stand, I just picked up some cheap carbon fibre effect one and it does the job.
Only annoying thing about using a case it is can make it difficult to drag the status bar down but I seem to be getting the hang of it after some usage.

I am hoping that as time goes on, more and more apps will be added cos it has potential. Lots of potential.

I am sure custom ROMs will take advantage, so we should see those popping up soon.

But yeah, still waiting on a dock. Lack of dock is just doing my head in.

That there is an awesome tool. So much of my electrical stuff wouldnt have dents in the side from leavering a screwdriver if i had found one of these before today.

Well i got one in the end. (Technically a Christmas present) Had a play around with it and it looks really good. Took a little getting used to for me because i have never used android before. Now ive had to hand it back over till Christmas! :( One thing i didn't work out though is how do you do a print screen on them?

Yeh i found that out just after i posted. Great stuff, i can always get a second battery and fitting it will be a sinch.

ill probably get in trouble for this but if you or anyone needs any parts I've got a nexus here that can be butchered.

its a 16gb and its hot a broken screen and the usb port is broken. everything else is fine.

so if anyone what's any bits let me know and ill open up a MM Thread or person wanting parts can and ill sell them to try make a little back for the money i paid for a broken one off the bay for a usb port.
