*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

and not in stock either :(

3g for an extra 39.99 is a bargain compared to other tablets

I really don't get this mentality.

My Nexus 7 is 3G enabled... its Bluetooth tethered to my phone. Paying anything for 3G seems like throwing money away on something you already have?

A 3G Nexus is on the net full time, I won't have to remember & tether to my phone or worry about my phone battery :)

also tethering has one major drawback (well I think anyway)

all your apps think "woot - I'm on wifi" - grab lots of data ....

like apps on my Iphone which have 2 modes, what they'll download via 3G and what they'll download via Wifi

well a Nexus 7 - via wifi to a 3G dongle or tethered will think its on Wifi - won't it?

If anyone is considering smallish headphones to use with their Nexus 7, I thoroughly recommend the Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones - they sound damn good with my Nexus. Near on perfectly balanced across the frequency range and incredibly musical and punchy sounding. Max volume isn't very loud, but loud enough for me.

The Google Play Store (U.K.) have the Nexus 7 32GB 3G model in stock and available NOW for 2 day delivery... for which they charge an extra £13.99!

I just had to order one though! :)

I don't know if the Google Play Store have changed courier recently or not, but their website now states "All packages will arrive via TNT within 1 - 2 business days of your order. Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email notification with a TNT tracking number. Your estimated time of delivery will be determined at the point that your order has been processed and shipped. It may take 24 hours for the TNT package tracking to return any information for your tracking number."

Looks as if it might arrive on Wednesday then... or possibly even Tuesday, which would be good!

Think I had better get a Vodafone SIM ordered now... hopefully I will be able to specify a 'mini' one!

How does it work on the tablet if you want to use 3g when outdoors?
do you have to switch 3g on and turn wifi off or something?
and when using wifi , do you have to turn 3g off? is it called 3g on the tablet or is it called mobile roaming or something?
can you pick which connection you want to connect to (3g or wifi)?
need to be careful if i'm thinking i'm on the sofa using wifi when really iv'e been using 3g by mistake , that would be painful!

Ive just ordered one too , 3g version. i have my payg mobile broadband micro sim ready.

if wifi is on and there is a remembered network in range it will automatically connect to it. same as a phone
