Call of Duty: Black Ops II

I wouldn't be surprised if the Virgin issues is something to do with the crap network they have and the throttling that they swear they don't do and only do it it P2P and Newsgroups really effects everything you try to do.

The reason I say this is the other night it took me 10 minutes to download the 26Meg update for Black Ops II. and funnily enough when I got onto the game it was terrible, not able to do anything except dribble and fire marshmallows at people.

Youtube videos are also crap to watch during peak times with constant buffering. I would not at all be surprised if this is in someway down to Virgin and the shaping of traffic.

I can't say I'm having the same amount of connection issues you guys are having, Yes there are bad games every now and then but for the most its been fine.

I have FTTC 80/20 connection I would say I get host 20% of the games I play. I'm only first prestige though.

I only have one issue.

People getting the jump on me going round corners.

1v1s feel completely fair if i find them out in the open. If however i round a corner and bump into them straight away, they are effectively ADS on me before i've even seen them. Look at the killcam back and i'm just running at them not reacting on their screen.

This is solely down to the lag compensation and that player beind "ahead" of me.

Tell a lie, one another annoyance is that players seem to warp about on my screen. I have combat knife wielding nutters who can going from being in front of me, to behind me having missed me seemingly instantly. Equally i can see players run across my screen who seem to warp about in front of me. By warp, i mean that they will seemingly "jump" forward a few foot without the player animation. They aren't teleporting around, its just the movement isn't smooth.

Anybody else find this ?

My copy is on eBay :p

Played a few games last night and every death I fired half a mag and on the kill cam you can't even hear the gun going off...hopped on to Black Ops 1 and had a blast.

I would say I enjoyed MW3 more than BO2.

There's somebody on the COD who seems to know a lot about networking and he says the Virgin Media forums have lots of posts with people complaining about problems in this game.
http://community.callofduty.com/thread/200548974?start=10&tstart=0 It's this Macabi person that knows a lot on Networking. Read some of his posts as they're very informative.

And if anybody wants to know what Lag Compensation actually is then read this

XBL downloads will always be slower in the evenings as that's coming up to peak time globally.

Black Ops seemed to bend over for Virgin hosts there was that issue for a while with players leaving and joining causing stuttering, but it was pretty much the same as before once it was fixed.

On occasion where I was 2up in a party on Wij's Virgin host a mile across town it was serious easy mode.

I've had that a few times. That's when you know there's serious lag going on in a lobby and I always back out when it happens.

Are you on Virgin or BT Infinity? From what i've read elsewhere people that are on Virgin have serious problems with this game.

I've not had any real problems either. A few dodgy games but that's it.
I even got picked as host yesterday and didn't have any problems.

They REALLY need to sort out the spawn system in this game. It's my one major problem. Yesterday I spawned and got killed by a Lightning Strike. I then spawned again right in somebody's sights and died again

Sky Fibre

Funnily enough i'm on VM and having issues.

Those saying they don't are on Fibre. We can get 80/20 in our area so it may be time to ditch VM. I've hated their traffic management policy and problems with youtube ( all over the VM user forums) for a while.

Time to switch me thinks.

How do you tell if you're host?I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the game being unplayable as the host but I can't figure out how you know it's you..

You'll start the game before everybody else and if you press select/back to bring up the score screen then the host will have full green bars and everybody else will be on red.
As far as I know IW/Treyarch tried to change some things so the host didn't have a super advantage. All they succeeded in doing was putting the host at a massive disadvantage so they just dashboard all the time now.

So apparently Vahn was talking out of his backside when he said matchmaking was based on latency and ping. It's also apparently also based on skill and people's Score Per Minute(SPM). This is apparently to stop good players getting put with bad players.
Say your SPM is 200.
The game finds 2 lobbies:
Lobby A - ping 25ms and SPM 150.
Lobby b - ping 75ms and spm 225
Because your SPM is 200 then you will get put into lobby B.

I should point out that this is just something i've taken from the COD forums.

If it's true then i'm really quite ****** off about it. Latency/ping should ALWAYS take priority when matchmaking.

Not sure about that, matchmaking is there to try and balance the game so you play with people at your level.

But I don't see any evidence of what you posted anyway.
