*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

Very easy, the screen is big enough that it's just like a mini keyboard. The preemptive text is nice also to speed up typing or spellcheck as you go. The browsers load times are faster than Chrome on my PC.

And sorry, is the browser on the TV, and you control it (type & navigate) via the pad?

Or do you view the browser on the pad as well/instead?

You type on the GamePad (obviously) but you can have the browser displaying on the GamePad screen, or on the TV, or on both at the same time. If you don't want to display your browser on the TV you can press the X button and a pair of cartoon curtains cover the screen, sort of like a privacy mode I guess.

So you could use it to browse the internet while someone watches TV , perfect...

can you install games on the wii u memory?

You can't, unfortunately.

Edit: I might have misunderstood the question, if you mean can you install a game from disc to the memory like you can on a PS3 and 360 then no. If you mean can you install games you download from the store to the memory, then yeah.

And are people finding the system as painfully slow to move around as mentioned? Eg: ten seconds to move from one page to another?

It's slow but you're not really moving from one page to another, the loading times are when you go into Settings, Miiverse etc which are kind of like loading an App. I don't find it particularly painful but it is noticeably slower than you would expect. Games on the other hand are fine, NSMBU doesnt have much of a load time.

Some apps take a while to load in for the first time, but afterwards I'd say 2 - 5 seconds tops. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Had a bit of overscan myself but there was an option on my LG TV to sort that out, Smartscan I think it was called? Anyways it's sorted now.

Had a videochat last night with my mate and his missus, was a good laugh, works well...however it of course decended into hilariously crude drawings :D

I agree with you Flibby definitely gets faster and the load times aren't much of an issue now.

However I am getting updates prior to every game right now...which I hope will stop...

Everything needs one update after you download the release day firmware upgrade. I went through and did it all last night.

Can anyone think of a way to turn wii U hdmi into hdmi and 2xphono audio for less than £20? I don't wanna have to return the wii U or ebay it just because I have an old amplifier.

Is the sound that comes from the controller the same as what comes through the tv? If so you could just connect the headphone socket from that to your amp. Not ideal but very cheap to do.

That may be my only option for a bargain price :) good idea. I'll run it from the top of the pad to the mp3 input on the front of the amp. There is a £25 converter extractor online but I'm worried it won't work because all I need is stereo and the wii u might send a digital 5.1 not sure though.

wonder if you can get a pci/pciX card that does audio extraction from a hdmi cable.

Mine arrived about 11am today got home from work about 1 had a hassle trying to get the wifi to work but found a decent guide on the ninty forums. Update and install took about 50mins in all so not as bad as i heard. Signed up to NNID as Smallios , had a look around miiverse and store, now updating nintendo land.
