Hi,
As it is a bit quiet in here at the moment, I thought it might be a good time to ask a couple of questions regarding the new 3G version of the Nexus 7.
Like a few others on here, I have recently purchased one of these, and have inserted a Vodafone 'data only' SIM, which has been recognised by the device.
When I send an SMS text message to the associated number I receive an indication that it has arrived, and can read it in a small 'black box' but after that it just seems to vanish!
What I would like to know, is whether received text messages are actually stored anywhere, and if so, how can I access them later, and secondly, how can I send an SMS text message from the device?
I know there are plenty of third party apps around such as Tablet Talk or Go SMS, but these appear to be written primarily for tablets without any built in 3G functionality.
I expected to see find an app such as 'Messaging' (as on the Samsung Google Nexus phone) already installed, but there is nothing!
If I were to install a SIM which included a text allowance, would this icon then be displayed, and the app installed? I somehow doubt it... and Google so called 'Technical Support' are no help whatsoever!
Has anyone actually tried this please, or come up with any sensible solutions to this particular problem?
Thanks!
