Far Cry 3 Thread

Haters of this game just make me laugh, they nick pick everything. Absolutely no game is perfect, never.

For me FC3 is easily GOTY, by a mile compared to anything else released on PC this year. The opening sequence is awesome and really sets the game going.

Just gonna let all the moaners and haters long for their 'perfect game' whilst I enjoy FC3.
 
I took on board what people have said on here and gave it some more time this evening. In all fairness I have enjoyed the last couple of hours just doing random things and exploring. I wouldn't call it a terrible game, and to be fair I gave it a score in the 60's in my previous post (a fairly arbitrary number, but 6/10 seems about right) - which remember, is enough to get you a 2:1 at uni! So I don't think I was that harsh.

I still think it's banal and childish, but it can be quite enjoyable. And you definitely can't argue that it isn't very, very good looking in places, take for example:

The combat lets it down the most really. Boring standard enemies, no variety. I stand by most of my previous comments RE loot boxes etc. It's good-to-middling, but definitely not a classic.

On another note, why does every conversation come down to the lowest common denominator in gaming i.e COD? Bringing up accusations of COD-loving as some attempt at an insult should be akin to Godwin's law. I.e. the fool who brings it up automatically loses the argument. I'd call it AndyT's law. Had a fantastic session on this today(after a long training day!) which I really enjoyed. The game is 3 parts excellent 1 part awful. Most of the missions and cutscenes are brilliant, but ruined by ridiculous QTEs, a yellow dot which ruins any kind of atmosphere and makes everything far too linear, and a few strange sequences which are a bit confusing as to what you are supposed to do(nothing wrong with that), but when you fail, it starts you back before a long cutscene.

I said 7.5 or 8 earlier, I am thinking probably 8 now.

Kind of ruins the start of the game there, personally I wasn't really expecting that when it happened.... Maybe some spoiler tags?

ok ....have to take out the quote though. And to be fair, everyone knows who the main protagonist is.

...best part of that is, I told someone else to use a spoiler tag earlier!:p
 
Has anyone come accross a No HUD mod/config yet? I dont like clutter on my screen, I like it simple. I hate the way animals get a paw logo above them to show their location. Thats just silly, kinda goes against the whole 'hunt' aspect of 'hunting'.
 
Only issue I having online is screen Lag. Game feels like its running at 20FPS but Dxtory says its 55/60fps. Apart from that not having any issue today joining matches.

Been searching all day, as it would improve the game 100%, but not found anything. I find it amazing that you can't turn most of the HUD options/hints off
 
Does the never settle code from AMD work yet? When I try to add it to the ubisoft store I just get a £10 voucher and then it asks for my card details etc.

Yep, worked for me today. Put the code in the promo box after adding the game to your cart, takes the total to zero, continue on and fill out payment details(even though its £0), confirm and begin download. Been playing for couple of hours and enjoying it so far, beautiful game.:)
 
Which game did you add? Deluxe edition?

I am connecting through my phone - maybe it is not seeing my region.

Ubisoft are doing a pretty good job of getting me to never use them ever again by giving me a free game that I want.

2hrs in and im not geting into it does it get better?

Problem with thse open world type games is the stop start nature and periods of nothingness.

Take FC1 for example or black mesa a recent game im playing its action always.
 
Had a great session on FC3 this evening, from 10pm to 1.30am. Been a long time since a game has got me sat still for so long :p Deviated from the story bits to take some towers and bases along with some skill improvement and hunting for skins to improve loadout and such. Now a one man army in the jungle :D There's something really nice the way FC3 plays, can't quite put my finger on it. One base I took I only fired one arrow - a tiger and one of those horrid birds did all the hard work while I watched and took photos :)

Once you take some bases and towers around the home village it does seem to stem the wave after wave of goons turning up while your minding your own business

And still require 5 arrows to a Tiger's face to kill it? Stick with my flamethrower thanks. ;)

Only upside to the bow is the unlimited ammo and semi-awesome feeling of long range shots, it's **** for hunting, absolutely ****, and that's exactly why I would use a bow in the first place. :/
