********** Hell!!

Good idea. Already done in other countries and it is much better to burn than other fossil fuels. Will fill the gap whilst the new nuclear stations are built.

It does seem likely that a fraction of the gas released would go in directions other than up the pipe. Methane in the water supply sounds about right as a consequence. Not convinced that matters.

Also:

"Even Mr XXXXX can't tell me otherwise"

Clearly unwilling to listen to alternative opinion (especially from those who know better) and enter into sensible debate. Will not change opinions regardless of merit. Probably votes labour.

BBC link shows isolated cases local to a badly managed fracking site. Not representative of the whole industry.

Answer the question, that's just smoke and mirrors. fossil fuels are short term solutions with an infinite payback period and you should know that. If it's how you pay your bills I wont judge you.

I predict something will go horribly wrong causing a massive environmental disaster, then the government will conduct an official inquiry costing £1 billion and produce a list of "lessons learned" while no-one in government is punished for green-lighting this.

£1bn report?! Sounds plausible.

This book should be compulsory reading in all schools - energy information without the ******** or misrepresented statistics.

*eh?

I do not work directly for an Energy company, though I do work for a consultancy company that carries out projects in the Oil and Gas, Nuclear, tidal and wind energy industries. We also have a very strong, responsible Carbon policy.

I work in the energy part of the business, specifically nuclear, though have worked on wind turbine projects and off-shore O&G projects.

I would consider myself reasonably well informed in these types of things. What are your credentials?

It amazes me how the can drill so deep and then split the drill off in to so many 'tendrils'. Amazing stuff.

Just exaggerating for effect ;). The government loves blowing money on inquiries which tell us something we already knew.

I know a bare minimum about fracking, but it seems like one of those things where one day we find out the water has been poisoned by an oil company due to "human error" and then billions in fines are handed out.

I also predicted that there would be no WMDs found in Iraq and the invasion was for an ulterior motive, and that we would not win the war in Afghanistan and simply retreat after wasting billions on it.

Can't predict the lotto numbers though :(
