2012 - Do not buy titles

Indeed.....but they as a company know that their current formula clearly works and sells them an obscene amount of copies.....no company worth their salt would change from that winning formula as it could be financial suicide.

BF4 may stay king, but it looks like its doing a similar route of annual BF versions as BF3 isnt that old.

Do you blame the developers or do you blame the hordes of people wanting to buy the same thing over and over?

Iphone/Ipad is another example of the above.

It isn't as much knowing as it is lucking out. They came around at a time where the FPS genre was dead, and where console popularity was exploding and innovated once, and I respect Infinity Ward for that, but ever since it's been nothing new, they don't have to change anything to innovate, only add more things, and make the game more skillful. Instead they cater to an audience; the talentless immature child who wants to feel like hes capable of something when he isnt, hence the ridiculous hitboxes and the fact bullets that miss the target by a few inches (over the shoulder for example) will actually register as hits etc. and the auto aim too, is pathetic. CoD has bought a large audience into gaming that shouldn't be there, and corrupted a lot of the existing audience. Imagine how it'd feel for avid driving enthusiasts if F1, BTCC, Le Mans and so on were invaded by an army of talentless boy racers because the cars are capable of driving themselves now. That's similar to what has happened in gaming and it's killing it due to the fact this new audience is now what every developer is being forced to cater to by publishers. CoD is effectively a virus that has affected the gaming world and killed a lot of the intelligent people off and turned them into the walking dead.

God there are quite a few fitting metaphors for this. :p

What it's gonna come down to at the end of the day is that soon, since 2007, Epic Games will have innovated the CoD series more than Infinity Ward/Treyarch. That is pathetic.

This connotes that you've actually never played the game - yet you still have an opinion on it?

What?

Read what I wrote on the OP, games you almost bought but came to your senses later.

4 or 6 guys in my clan bought MoH and 2 weeks later were saying how bad it was, I then thought “glad I didn’t waste my money”.

I tend to base opinion on my own personal experiences.

Seems silly to kill a game off like that.

Omaeka you seem to be falling for the 'IMUSTBETHETARGETAUDIENCEFOREVERYGAME' trap. Just because they like different games to you it doesn't make them any less gamers and it doesn't mean the company needs to redesign it's ridiculously successful game to suit you. It's an easy mistake to make but you have to remember that everyone is different.

How do I subscribe to you? :D

I dont think you can and I wouldn't wish that on anyone anyway, I wouldn't even want to be subscribed to myself tbh :p I'm just a lot of randomness and swearing usually. :D

Not at all, I don't even like FPS games so they'd never be able to attract me to the series. As I said above they don't have to redesign the games, I have played them and on the pure gameplay side of things the games handle and feel nice, but that's it, and that's the only thing they've ever gotten right since 07. Which is fine, they don't have to completely change a games core feel to becoming an innovative sequel, infact hundreds of games have ruined themselves by trying to innovate (DefJam being the biggest example I can think of).
Go take a look at Far Cry, sure it isn't perfect, far from it, but its the only AAA franichse I've seen recently that tries new things. Granted they haven't done them perfectly but they have tried and on the most part succeeded. You simply cannot deny that CoD has attracted an audience that is corrupting gaming as a whole, every series is being infected now, I'm actually worried as to what TES VI will be like, whereas before, pre-Skyrim, I was absolutely overwhelmed with excitement.

It wouldn't kill them to add an animation to that knife kill would it, or remove the multiplayer assists everyones forced to have, or expand the map sizes, add in high player limits, vehicles etc.. That does sound a lot like Battlefield but there's an old saying I learned in college; talent borrows, genius steals.

And no, that doesn't apply to all of the other developers who are pathetically trying to dumb their previously successful, amazing series down to a painful level to attract more sales, that's called trying to lazily make money off another series fortune.

FPS shooters are indeed becoming more like CoD, but this is because CoD has the winning formula. Granted the new way the game plays might not be to the likes of the players who liked the prequel, but you can't blame CoD for doing what they do. They sell millions of copies, with 'little' effort.

COD will always stay the same....the devs wouldnt even be allowed to change as the shareholders would have a hissyfit.

For me COD will be just like Fifa.....everything remains pretty much the same and it evolves in slow steps over the years adding 1 or 2 things each time, while making LOADS of money.

Blizzard do the same with their MMO WoW and its expansions....its just the way it is.

The gaming industry is too fragile to make silly mistakes.

Of course you can, a series can be just as financially successful as Call of Duty by innovating, granted none have yet, but that is because gaming consists about 50/50 of brains/retard, Call of Duty has managed to attract every single of the latter, and also a few of the former, whereas a game needs to come along that is innovative and amazing that attracts all of the former, and maybe some of the latter, then it'd be hugely successful.

Also as previously posted, it really wouldn't hurt them to add some things into the games would it? All the CoD games are simply a bundle of new textures and new maps/campaign. That isn't a sequel mate, that's an expansion pack.

COD will always stay the same....the devs wouldnt even be allowed to change as the shareholders would have a hissyfit.

Which is why I hate most publishers too, they are the biggest parasite out there.

That would be fine if it actually evolved which it doesn't, what has Call of Duty had that was new from Modern Warfare since 2007? Zombies, and that's pretty much it, not added in any animations, not tweaked a single thing to make the game smoother, the shooting better/realistic. Where are the destructive environments? Why can I shoot a wall with an RPG and still have it be there? Sure, their audience doesn't care because they are stupid and wouldn't appreciate innovation anyway, but that doesn't mean they can't actually add something. Black Ops 2 is EXACTLY the same as Black Ops and World at War, except now set in the future instead of the 40's/70's.

I get that, and also dislike WoW for the same reasons, thankfully though WoW doesn't even crap on it's own genre let alone the the whole industry in the process.

You're right I can't blame a company for being safe, but I can blame them for slowly ruining something I've loved doing since I was wee high, just because my brain has actually aged since.

BLOPS II - Having played all since CoD 2, I should have realised I was bored of the concept. Paid £40 and I must have played about 2 hours. Nothing wrong with the actual game for me, just the concept is boring to me now.

Same goes for GW2, awesome game but just couldn't get into it after playing MMOs for so long. Controversial I know.

This rings so true for me with my favourite game series Final Fantasy, that was amazing back in the day with 7, 8, 9 and 10 all great games, to what it is today...a hot steaming pile of turd!

I know right? Every single franchise has been ruined from my childhood except Street Fighter, Tekken, Max Payne, Pokemon, Hitman, Runescape and Gran Turismo.

Resident Evil - RUINED
Crash Bandicoot - GONE
Timesplitters - GONE
Medal of Honor - RUINED
Syphon Filter - GONE
Elder Scrolls - COMATOSE
Realms of Everquest (Champions of Norrath, Return to Arms) - GONE
Fable - RUINED
DefJam - RUINED
Call of Duty - RUINED
Quake - GONE
Soldier of Fortune - GONE
Doom - GONE
Spyro - RUINED

I could go on...

All the decent games have either disappeared, been totally ruined or on the verge of it, so so annoying.

what do you think BF4 will be like ? come on man it's obvious, it's the same team isn't it, so therefore it'll be like the 1st game.

All sequels are similar, every single one, but it's ok for Bioshock/ borderlands/ Metro to be similar, because they're good games; but not generic crap like BF3/ COD..... so there's no point taking any interest in BF4 at all is there !

no they're not, Rainbow 6 Patriots is nothing like COD and it's a way better tactical shooter..... flipping a million times better.

CRYSIS/ BIOSHOCK/ STALKER/ METRO/BORDERLANDS..... nothing like COD.

so no, FPS are not getting anything like COD/BF3.....not even close, thank god.
