My Surface for Windows RT Review

Yes as the built in video player doesn't support mkv and other formats. However apps can be built using any codecs they want.

Nice, so we could see a full on VLC player yet?...wonder how the money is coming for that, but will purchase this, thanks for the heads up!

OG!...it does music too, its listing MY music so now I can get rid of that god awful MS music app!

Also has a built in player to Youtube.

I've noticed they have 10 in stock online. I'll check out Oxford Street next week to see what they have left.

i too checked oxford street london yesterday and there was none.

Today i saw one on bluewater shopping mall in Kent.

Its a decent looking device but the OS is what will decide if it is a success.

i am waiting on the Pro version to see how that fair's.

i was looking at the nexus 10 online and in forums such as here but it has been plagued with soo many defects :(

my wife has a ipad already but i want something different.

It seems that the ipad maybe my best bet.

of course its the safe bet, but god is it boring if your in the same household, get something different and share?

If you're that way inclined yeah, but some people just want to stick with what they know. I'd rather not get completely locked in with one company but not everyone thinks that way.

For those who tether a phone/stay away in hotels, this looks lik an amazing app. Cross platform as well

Really liking mine now I've spent some time getting it exactly how I want it - V impressed... 64GB MicroSD for it at £49 is a no brainer as well atm

Tried one last week at a BizSpark developer event hosted by Microsoft.

First thing that struck me was how gorgeous the screen was. Made my iPad mini and Macbook Air green with envy.

Really want to get one, but my gadget addiction is currently being curbed. Shame as I'm a Windows 8 app developer.

I dunno why they cop so much flack by the Android and iOS mafia at the moment. They cost the same as an iPad and offer the same functionality - As an alternative to that they are perfect. Once the Pro comes along as well you will then have something as powerful as a laptop for doing whatever you please on. Plus, the developer eco-system and interface is a complete breath of fresh air after the last 2 years of what can probably be deemed very non innovation by the usual suspects.
