Quick Borderlands 2 Question

Hi,

My 14 year old daughter is asking for Borderlands 2. Can anyone who has played the game advise of it's suitability for a 14 year old girl.

I understand it's rated as 18 and that's normally the bottom line, but I was wondering how much of the following features in the game. I generally let her watch 15 age movies and of course 12 age films always seem to feature the odd swear word these days.

Bad language
Sexual Themes
Blood and Gore

Edit. Can you filter any of the above in game?

I would say that yes there's plenty of bad language, the blood and gore is more cartoonish than realistic owing the the game's cell shaded art style. Can't say I've noticed many sexual themes really, but I am 43 ;). Plus I've only played it for 13 hours.

I'd say something like South Park is far worse than Borderlands 2 for all of the above.

Is she allowed to play COD? I'd say they were worse for language and gore.

Check out the Members Market if you access, Borderlands 2 is going for around a tenner at the moment if there's any in there.
 
thanks for replying. She's never asked to play COD, but I wont let my 9 year old play it. I guess the over the top cartoon graphics are okay. Any idea on the filtering options?
 
If you have a sense of humour (and so does your daughter) then yeah, let her play it. The gore isn't exactly serious and most of the 'sexual themes' are immature innuendo's, as is most of the swearing.

You're more likely to get disturbed from the enraged screams of the Goliaths and they don't even swear :p
 
bad language ? there isnt much talking in the game so it will be fine.

gore ? its all cartoony and doesnt look real in the slightest so im not sure it can even be classed as gore

sexual content ? ....well there is plenty of that but thats only when i alt tab and ...actually you dont need to know., the game itself has none.
 
The only sexual theme is when I go to bed and dream about Moxxi! :)

But yeh, bit of sweary stuff. Violence is kinda funny in an Itchy and Scratchy way.
I'm going to get it off my 13yr son.

Very true. I have lv50'd 2 characters now but dont think I could do another. It does seem a bit pointless continuing when not earning xp. Only thing that is keeping me playing it is killing pyro pete to collect some seraph crystals while he is unlocked, in the off chance some decent light pink gear comes out with the next dlc. Plus want to get my Badass points to 40k as i'm not far off now.

I have 35 Golden keys, just from the codes, no cheating like Mal X

Kinda best to stagger them through out your playthrough surely rather than just wait until you get to high level.
There are plenty more keys issued by Gearbox anyway

Had to use 3 now (level 15) as I'm hating the WARDEN level - got myself a SL*g Sniper and much better corrosive shotgun...

yeah It's a bit different to when the game was first released and there were next to no keys available. Now we've been spammed with keys and tbh.....none of loot you get is very good anyway lol

Still better than anything I've yet to discover. I'm playing Zero, whilst I'm pretty good sniping, I go to pieces in close combat!
Once I've got through this nightmare stage (Bloodshot Ramparts & The WARden), I'll have a play on the slots and see if I can team up with someone...:p
