*** The Official Samsung Galaxy Note II Thread ***

This thing feels more like a minature laptop that also has the ability to make calls and send texts lol.I didnt think id spend so much time doing things on it but its quite addictive and theres just so much things you can do. I would say the screen size definatly helps in that. My girlfriend has an IPhone and it just seems small to me now compared to this. If they Could keep the phone the same size but increase the actual screen they would have even more of a winner with the note 3 but i definatly wont be upgrading this for a long time as it already does everything you want and its also super fast especially when overclocked to 1.8/1.92ghz.

Ordered! Gone for the LTE version so I have the choice of switching to 4G. Picking it up on Wednesday in store. Looking to offload the S3 now.

Congratulations Mate, where did you order it from? how much did it end up costing you if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, can't wait to pick it up :) Got it on Orange with a sim only deal. Phone was £499 + £10 topup, I got a pay and go plan that had data and texts so I will use this up before my sim only card arrives which is quite handy as it takes a week to arrive.

I went for the panther 20.50 deal which is 12 months @ £20.50, reduced to £15.50. 500mb data, 600 mins and unlimited texts. Planning on going up to 1gb if required which would take it up to £20.50 a month. I also have the option of moving to EE (4g) whenever I want during the contract so I will change over if I get a mast upgrade near me.

Also used quidco for the first time, I think I may have got £30 off the phone and contract so £60 in total, I'm not fully sure how this works or how I claim so viewing it as a bonus if it works!!

Does it work out cheaper to buy it sim free?

It can do depending on phone type etc - Im about to move from O2 where I am paying 37 quid a month for 1Gb, 300 minutes, 600 texts.

My old 'note' is now being processed for sale, ill get the note 2 for around 460, and then go for the 'special limited offer' that has been up for a couple of months of SIM only full monty plan t-mobile, unlimited data, texts and calls for 21 quid a month (12 month contract). Just hoping tmobile are not too bad coverage wise and how O2 will feel about me 'leaving' after 10 years or so!

:)

It's not necessarily the cheapest option but I can't stand being in a long contract. Much prefer using the residual from current phone and get a new one every 12 or so months. My S3 is worth £250 so the note is effectively £250, making the monthly cost £40 with no purchase price and no long contract.

That's quite a good deal considering you're not committed to a long term contract which means that if any new phones take your fancy then you can get one, and we all know in this industry technology is moving so fast the Note 3 will soon be on the horizon.

Good move in regards to Quidco, you will definitely get money back for the transaction but Quidco will take £5 off for membership costs for the first year if this is your first transaction using the site.

Will be looking forward to your thoughts when you get the phone! :)

So, running Wanam LL7 now, runs great and fixed the SMS to MMS conversion, so I don't have to bother with that atleast :). Just need to decide on a theme now, mainly just want a black notification bar and black and blue toggles, I actually quite like the default dialer on this. Themed Splanner would be good though, default colours are horrible :p.

I'm guessing there's no way to get the SPen gesture shortcuts to popup when it's removed since if it did it like notes when it's locked like the note app it would basically let you avoid the lock screen?

Does anyone know how to get AOSP spell checking to work on this? I'm gonna have a look now, but if someone has a link handy that'd be great <3.

Loving the phone so far, I still think it's ridiculously big, but it isn't too big :p.

Which notification LED app are people using? Gonna try Light Manager in a minute, I'm guessing these don't affect battery life?

I know I've asked a couple of those questions before but no one answered them :p.

Currently have a i3GS with Three's SimOnly 600 deal (£15/month, 600mns, 2000 texts, Unlimited data). Contract ends Feb/March and have decided I'll get the Note II on The One plan. Currently £69 upfront then £36/month. Quidco offering £100 cashback on this deal until end of Jan, so is it worth upgrading early (Esp. if I can get Three to waive the £69 up front) and paying the remaining £30 left on my existing plan, or waiting to see if the Note3 comes out by then?

Either way, I can't wait to ditch this busted old tat (won't upgrade beyond 4.1, so not one app available!) and get intimately familiar with Android!

Which launcher are people choosing to use on their note 2's? Ive got nova on atm and it seems pretty good, gets rid of touchwiz thank god :), probably end up buying the pro version but wondered if there was any others? Ive got the pro version of launcher pro but thats a bit old now and doesnt seem to have been developed any futher?

Yeah i've made the icons small for the app drawer, got 7 in there so my home screen is pretty clear which is the way I like it, im after a simple clock widget, now something like tajm only a little clearer to see any recomendations
