So that leaves housing and groceries.
Housing is a seperate benefit so thats out of the equation.
Food prices are so simmler is it worth the extra cost to the goverment to keep things analysed?

Go look on the british gas website, Its tarrif dependant not county dependant.
a lot of the fuel is more expencive up north or similarly priced. Depending where you shop and what you buy the price of food is also the same/very simmlar.

Its the price of "non essentials" that differs and should not be taken into account for benefit purposes.

Nope, food is definitely cheaper outside London, that is general staples... I don't have an opinion on the others because I don't have comparisons.

How do you suggest people survive on less than minimum wage? Working 40 hours a week even at the current minimum only leaves you with £217 per week after taxes.

For example, a small 2 bedroom maisonette in Brighton costs £950 a month to rent.

The minimum wages prices the low paid out of work and increases the benefits bill.

Nobody would work for less than minimum wage, it isn't viable.

Gas and elec prices are not only Tariff dependant, they ARE regonalised.

They don't really, may differ marginally but it's also colder and darker so they require more

Pick a random northern postcode, then a random southern. Enter same details for both and i'm certain the northern one will come out cheaper.

Just did that and the Northern one was a whole £3 more per year.

Always has been, it's just becoming more obvious in other areas as times become more desperate.

Things are now pretty desperate.

We will see more like this as the UK economy continues to stall in its market correction, but if it does get to this sort of situation where the benefit system is being cut open entirely along predetermined prejudices as it has then ignoring the Independence referendum I do not see a bright future for this nation, United.

I 100% agree that house prices should have been allowed to crash and the cost of rent with it, many would be in negative equity but it would give others a chance to get on to the property market and leave money in their pockets to spend on other things.

I don't know about the problems in the SE as I stay in Scotland, the value of property has no effect on me but my friends are still finding it hard to purchase a house.

looooooooooool, the minimum wage is not even a living wage and you want less.

So you pay tax for how many number of years, then get chucked on the scrap heap for whatever reason, would you not feel angry that there would be no benefits to help you get through a bad patch.
