Bottled Water

I drink tapoline / council pop. I buy about 5 litres of bottled water per week to water my reptiles, and to use in the misting system for them. I do not want artificial flouride and chlorine traces in the water meant for exotic species.
 
I drink it to keep hydrated. As long as it's safe I don't give a damn where it comes from!

In thailand the imported 'evian' was around £4 a bottle where I was, insane!
 
Water is water imo. There is a difference in taste, but I personally prefer tap waters taste.

I may be crazy, but I'm almost certain the water from my bathroom sink tastes different from my kitchen sink. Maybe the pipes are full of limescale or something, I don't know!

BTW: Peterborough has fine water for my taste. Buying bottled just seems silly and a waste of money. The wife on the other hand, will only drink filtered using a water filter.
 
I must say i do only drink bottled water. I notice a big difference in the taste. I suppose all areas in the country have different quality. I have a TDS meter and my tap water has a reading of around 500 and bottled water varies from 50-150. What this means for us i don't know but it cant be good.
 
Tap water here int' north is fine. Crystal clear! Plus it has a little bit of fluoride or something in which apparently helps whiten your teeth a little every time you drink it (supposedly).

You only need to go 15 miles down the road though and the water is hideous, such a strange taste.
 
If you can't taste the difference... there is something very wrong with your taste buds!

I can tell the difference between most bottled water, let alone the difference between tap water and the horribly over-chlorinated horrible tasting crap that comes out of the taps.

Sure I could survive on the tap water... but if you've got the money to spend a measly £20/week on bottled water and prefer the difference... why not?

My favourite is evian (and yes, i like what it says when you spell it in reverse - lol)... I can't stand the flavour of vilvic.

There are some really nice ones over here that cost next to nothing - I picked up a 6 pack of 2 litre bottles for £1.00 that doesn't taste too different from Evian :)

Also, especially in the south of the country... if you like tea... the water is TERRIBLE for it... so I use bottle water for my hot drinks too, massive difference.

It's been a long time since I heard this, so my info may be out of date or I'm remembering it wrong... but doesn't fluoride replace the calcium in your teeth, effectively weakening them?

It was certainly something like that that used to be in a lot of toothpastes and was causing problems...

I doubt they would put it in nearly every tube of toothpaste if it weakened your teeth.


I never buy or filter water as we have soft water here that tastes pretty good. It's also always freezing cold due to the climate here, so get ready chilled water on tap :cool:.

Not quite: this is more likely just to cause a blockage.
The oestrogen comes from contraceptive hormones excreted in the urine, not used sanitary products...
Also synthetic compounds such as bisphenol-A are thought to have a similar effect.
 
The gf refuses to drink water out of taps in the bathroom and stuff.

I recall a science thing I went to when I was in year 7 or something where they had an 'east anglian' water guy or something, and he said that they have to make sure water from anywhere has to be suitable for drinking, because when it comes into the house they have to know it's safe for drinking. Hence I happily drink from most of the taps...

Apparently if its in large doses, it can be poisonous and continued exposure to it will knacker your teeth but te fluoride in tap water is barely there. The parts per million is really low. I would imagine it would just be the bits that can't be taken out of the water by the normal processing, similar to oestrogen as mentioned, and anti-depressants (of which traces have been found in water).

I don't think there's enough in our tap water to make a noticeable difference unless you drink it constantly, day in, day out.

I use tap water for my Nescafé machine and to brush my teeth but when I am making juice I use the water filter on the fridge.

Agreed

I drink ALLOT of bottled water and I can tell the difference in brands, I prefer drinking it over anything else when out working.

And council pop (tap water) is rancid.

Might just be the area I live in (hard water area) but it's nasty.

Evian / Volvic here is pretty expensive too, can't remember how much - never actually bought it - I think it's around £2.50 -£3.00 or so for 1.5L :o
