***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

I cheated :( I don't like cheating, but I hate feeling cheated myself. The contract negotiations had been going backwards and forwards, and upon the final contract offer I hadn't realised the agent had reset the minimum fee release clause. My own fault, but not something I would have included if I'd have seen it.

£30m offer, but I reckon this guy will be in the top three right wingers in the game and my season is far from over. Still in 3 cups and sitting 5th in the league.

I realised I'd saved the game 2 days before he signed the contract, so went back to then and ended up having to replay a tough fixture list consisting of Man Utd twice, Man City, Arsenal and Spurs (whom are the best team around) in consecutive matches.
Going back in time? :D Oh well.

I'm proud to say i have never cheated in this save, and I don't intend to.

i remember once on FM12, when I was with Sevilla, I mistakenly played a DC in goal, and I wanted to reset if I lost (it was obviously a mistake which I overlooked!!). I won 2-1 though:D
Speaking of watching the matches...how do you watch the match with commentary and ratings and to make it automatically switch to replays when there is a goal. I could do this with FM 2012.

The nut (?) on the top right of the screen whilst you are watchinf a game. Press it, and set replays to goals.

EDIT: I signed Kyle Taylor. Not too keep about spending over 40M on another midfielder tbh. I'll delay him for now and decide later. Will reject Galarza and Wilshere.

Here's a fun irritant from nearly getting my prem team right (its been a week of mucking about with the transfer market assembling a squad that will ruin the champ and could just stay up in the perm).

Captain choice time! I have 2 candidates, 28 year old Hamdan Al-Kamali (cb with 14 influence and was a key player last year) or 19 year old Paul Owen (the regen striker from 2 seasons ago who has become amazing but is still young and only 13 influence).

If I pick Owen he doesn't like the pressure of being captain at such a young ages.

If I pick Al-Kamali Owen gets annoyed he wasn't made captain...

Everyone is delighted for Owen and most people are happy with Al-Kamali. What am I supposed to do?!?! (generally I want my captain to be a midfielder but no one has been about long enough or is a natural leader at the moment to do that and my old captain was just the cb that had stuck it out for years with us).

FINALLY starting to get somewhere. I'm playing as Crawley in league 1. Was sitting around 20th-22nd for the til mid October and things have just started to come together. Won 3 of my last 5 games and that includes a 5-1 win over Bristol Rovers in the JPT. Very happy with that!

Was doing quite well second season as Eastbourne Boro, hovering around the top of the table, just gone on six games without a win, dropped down to mid-table, lost out of play-offs.

Bugger.

The squad is slowly coming together, getting a good core of players, and slowly adding class players to the team, getting rid of the waste.

Also making money, which is great, will have a balance of £250,000 at the start of season 3. Always liked the financial aspect of FM, and find it rewarding having a well balanced club, just call me Arsene.

Finally got a little inspiration for the Bishops Stortford in the prem transfer window (it's been annoying me for a while so far).

:D

Just about have a balanced squad of players that can get away quickly if we go down and players that I want tied down for a long time regardless of which league I end up in.

So pleased with him (despite his fitness concerns) as he's about the only player in the team with any prem games under his belt, plus he takes the pressure off some of the kids I signed.

Also have Lucas Piazon who made exactly zero appearances for Chelsea but has been good over pre season.

And best of all Silva nearly scored a screamer which hit the post and my striker tapped in the rebound for 1-1 on the opening day at home to Fulham :)

What's going on with my transfers?

Went to transfer a player worth £850k. Offered a £60k upfront payment followed by 48 months with the rest. Offer was accepted by Man United. I have enough transfer budget for the initial payment, and enough for wages. I presumed I had enough in the kitty for the monthly payments, but the message comes back saying I don't have enough money. I'm not sure how transfers work - does the monthly payment also come out of the transfer budget or does it come from the club balance? So I would need £850k or whatever it is, as a balance in my transfer budget?

And Pingwing, what an amazing signing!! How did you do it?

He got released by City because no manager liked him, waited till August for when all players start to get desperate and said he's 13k as a key player for a year come play :)

Almost shocked he went for it!

With the payments thing it doesn't work if the club doesn't have the money, so if you have 100% of the transfer budget you wont be able to get any more money by spreading the payments (I think). So the per month thing comes out of the club balance but if the balance cannot give you more transfer funds (both currently and from the projection) it wont let you buy them (unless you are portsmouth.... badum tishhhh).

Oh wow that is handy to know! I might have to have a looksy myself next transfer window.

Right so I'm a bit confused by what you said lol.. So bottom line, my club needs to be in the black, with a decent projection. I need £16k a month to afford him. But I'm sure I have more than that available. But my transfer budget is only £74k with no room for adjustments. I'm awaiting a £700k deposit however, frm a player I have just sold.

Something like that yes, it's a bit mirky for me too. You can't spend money a month that you wont have but you can spend what you should have (provided there is a good projection)...

I always get confused when it moans at me trying to spread some payments, one of those FM mysteries from my perspective.

As an edit/update: 4 games into the prem and I know its one of those stop now before you get mad. Won 3 and drawn one, beat Fulham 3-2 at home, drew away at Bolton 1-1, beat QPR 2-0 (who are now bottom) and beat West Ham 2-1! :D

Top after 4 games it just brilliant! Especially as I am a quarter of the way to my staying up target... (with a long way to go)

Strange buggy-ness happening. Just signed a player, all done and dusted. Transfer fee agreed, contract signed and confirmed from me end... but apparently he's not joining

There's no indication in my future transfers that he's set to join when the transfer window re-opens, there's no indication in the player's transfer situation that he's due to join my/another club, yet when I try to make an offer for him it says that he's already accepted a contract with a club... Let's just hope he joins as agreed!

On another note, I've found it difficult to sign players I genuinely think will improve my team. I had £30m of transfer fees and am looking for DMs, as I don't operate with CMs. No one. There's an amazing AML at Sao Paulo, but they wanted £101m for him. I go and spoof my transfer budget and then he goes on the transfer list at his request... for about £30m!

I ended up blowing that entire £30m on youth players! I clicked through every single team in major leagues when they're youth intake came through, and signed up the best. So I should have an amazing team... in 5 years time! :p

Although I did drop £14m on a 17 year old from Ajax who hasn't played a game yet, although my personal FM Potential Ability judgement tells me he's going to be amazing... but I'm usually wrong! haha

Iv had the phantom transfer thing before, though its never been for anyone important. Last time it happened I shouted and reloaded (only a couple of days before) to try and find out why it happens. No idea though as it fixed its self...

What year are you on?? When I made it to 2020 in fm12 transfers for the best players got really frustratingly unrealistic, so getting some players that improve the team was costing me £90m and I was only able to sell to the computer at half that price (though I did manage to offload some strikers who were no longer doing the business).

£30m on youth is impressive :p

Does anyone here create their own tactics? I'm a fairly casual player so i have always just downloaded tactics but i've decided to try and create them myself based on the team i have.

So far i've found that nothing works regardless of how talented my team is. Does anyone know of any guides on tactic building aimed at dummies like me?

You won't like this but I call shenanigans on this transfer.

Or is FM13 really screwed up? Because in previous version there is no way David Silva would accept 13k a week.

On my save Rodwell went from £70,000 a week to £1,300 a week playing in L1... and he was only 26! It depends on how long the player has been without a team and whether or not any clubs are interested.
