I'm looking forward to the new patch. I'm currently Paragon 15 with my barb and Legendary drops hardly drop for me. I don't put a vast amount of hours in now, but I can go days - sometimes a week without a decent drop.

I'm confused if Magic Find makes a difference to Lengendary drops? Some people I've spoken to within the game say it does and some say it does not. I was under the impression it does. Fully stacked my MF is around the ~200% mark

I have asked this question before and still a bit confused by how it all works - I presume you get legendary drops but they are not very good? Which is my experience really. I get quite a lot of legendary drops (including lots of set items) but can only say that only a handful can be considered of any value.

I can only go on my experience which is this. I start on MF at approx 240%. After 5NV this is over 300%. At the start of a run, when my MF is 240% I get mainly blues and this increases to 4 rares (yellow) after each elite pack when my NV is 5.
If this mean that with higher NV and therefore MF the chances of getting better items (rares and legendarues) increases.

However this does not seem to match with my experience either - when I get legendary drops I can get it at start of my run which means that the MF is closer to 240 or towards the end.

Some on this forum posted a link to website where some tried to answer this question - it was a rather long article and I am not sure whether they came to any conclusion.

Overall I think MF does make a difference and I also try to have this on my character but it does not always lead to more legendaries.

Like i mentioned i am relatively poor at the higer levels but i noticed you get much higher chance of legendary drops with monster level 10 or higher monster level because your base MF is higher.

With no MF gear on - it something like 300% MF at Monster Level 10.

Obviously although there a lot more legendary i agree hardly any of them is considered really valueable.

Sold my gold on the UK RMAH so 290M sold within the 48 hour window. So it's better to sell gold there than the EU as the Pound is worth more than the Euro. At the end of the 48 hours I had a bunch of emails saying "item in review" etc, so I guess it was selling them all right at the end when I was near the top of the queue :)

Wow you can sell gold??? for Real money?

Decided to boot up DIII again, wow it's changed for the better and actually feels fun now. Got a Barb at 60 with below avg gear but managed to grab the Bul-Kathos weapon set for all my gold approx 100k.

Now to farm some cash for my soon to be 60 Wizard :)

yes but you don't get that much these days, and it's not exactly "easy" to get gold! If you find nothing worthwhile you gain gold too slowly in my opinion.

You lose a lot in fees:

Item name 290,000,000 Gold
Time of transaction 14 January 2013 08:07 AM GMT
Sale price £72.50
Transaction fee £10.88
Transfer fee £9.25
Applicable taxes £0.00
Your proceeds £52.37

Before the price bottomed out at £0.25 per million I sold 11.6 Million gold for £29.00!

Item name 11,600,000 Gold
Time of transaction 20 July 2012 09:08 AM BST
Sale price £29.00
Transaction fee £4.36
Transfer fee £3.70
Applicable taxes £0.00

Back when the RMAH was new it was so easy to make money, when the rares you found actually sold for something, and the game was more popular, this was my best ever sale:

Item name 1 Hunt Mark
Time of transaction 21 June 2012 10:33 PM BST
Sale price €119.99
Transaction fee €1.00
Transfer fee €17.85
Applicable taxes €0.00
Your proceeds €101.14
Your proceeds £20.94

Yeah the old days were good :)

Item name 1 Hypnosis Respite
Time of transaction 19 June 2012 09:15 PM BST
Sale price £200.00
Transaction fee £1.00
Transfer fee £29.85
Applicable taxes £0.00
Your proceeds £169.15

Item name 1 Magister's Flight
Time of transaction 20 June 2012 12:33 PM BST
Sale price £150.00
Transaction fee £1.00
Transfer fee £22.35

Your proceeds £126.65

Trading up, finding better gear or buying better gear, selling my old gear. Then when I got bored I just sold all of my gear I had accumulated.

Also finding good drops occasionally that I could sell for some millions too.

As I mentioned before you can't go into this game with the mindset that you will find something to sell for real money, you simply need luck to do so.

Doing Alkaizer runs for Paragon Levels helped a bit too I reckon, as I was getting decent XP and would find drops every now and then doing those. The more "Magic Find" you get the more items you should find, and the gold find meant I was finding piles of gold of around 3K which helped, I would gain a fair bit of gold just from finding it on the floor.

You need to understand the value of the gear on the AH. Just right click your gear you want to sell, and click the "Search for similar items" option, it will put the filters in for you on the item you selected.

Then you should remove any "useless" stats that don't change the value assigned to the item, for example health globes granting extra hp, or reduced duration of CC effects. Then that should give you a good idea of how much your item is worth.

Easier on armour than weapons.

Also don't forget that some slots sell better. For selling items you want to pick up:

Gloves
Shoulders
Rings
Amulets
Possibly Bracers/Weapons.

I stopped picking up a lot of items as they were always junk, as the slots like chest armour never really sell because people get class specific chests like the IK chest.

Moldran has some good videos on the Youtubes about such things, can explain it much better than me :D

Yep that's right indeed.

Hi

You must get lots of legendaries which are junk too?

What do you with them?

They are taking up space in my chest - have tried selling some but they dont go at all. Things like Death Watch Mantle, when everyone is probably after a Vile Ward.

Do you convert them to Brimstones and sell these?

Yep pretty much. And yeah I did find lots of legendaries at one point, most of which sucked, but towards the end of my playtime I simply stopped finding anything really, which was just frustrating so I quit :D

You should come back :D then help me :p

any good tips or builds for a Wizard ? I'm currently on Hell - Act III - 7 and just can't seem to progress without quite a few deaths.

* Make sure resistance is up! very important at higher levels. Ideally all of them if you can.
* Get a good balance gear for DPS and HP/Vit. Boost HP as much as you can. (Galvanizing Ward) could help couple with a Shield of your choice)
* Have you got the Paladin to help tank as well?
* Consider playing a bit more defensively , diamond skin, teleport or mirror image to help you out of tight spots.

I mostly play solo so it depends if you group as well that can help out.

This is quite a good thread although it not been updated with the recent patch. Here

I've been using scoundrel on the Wiz so will swap that out plus I'm quite under geared atm as I concentrated on pimping my main the Barbarian.

Those passives in that guide really do help as I've never tried Teleport let alone using Illusionist with it, gives you some seriously good escape skills. Will carry on and try that build.

thanks Kyo !
