It's not going to be dry for long :p I tried my first Sufferfest last week and ended up with a pool of sweat around my bike :(

It was decided that the temperature was too low today for our normal club run, so we did a MTB run instead. Makes a nice change sometimes and gave me a good chance to try out the GoPro i got for xmas.

Coming back into town on the road, it was clear to see that we are all roadies at heart:

Holy mackerel was it cold yesterday, i done 27 miles and came home in a block of ice

The video quality of your camera is brilliant mate, what model and mount are you using?

Been so busy only been out for one proper ride this year :( Should have some time come the weekend but the forecast is windchill -10c

Its ball freezing cold atm

Nice weather app, what is it called?

Working from home today. Between Mrs A leaving this morning and my 9am conference call I made some decent progress. Might finish it off at lunch depending on how long indexing takes...

Not sure about the stem. I've got an FSA OS-99 which should match the seat post but it's a bit battered. I looked at the OS-99 CSI which is the best match but it's £130!

That's the stem I was going to buy when I had my SuperSix. It's worth the money IMHO, so just buy it. Have a look on eBay, people usually sell decent/new ones there for less than retail.

Holy white tyres Batman.

Looks smart. Do you have mudguards?

Yes. White ones. Not sure they will fit though; clearance under the mini-vs isn't as great as I expected. Also there isn't a mount on the chain stay bridge so I need to order a p-clip.

I've got an OS-99 (non-CSI which is just alloy but is lighter than the carbon / alloy version) but it's a bit battered. I've seen some CSI versions on eBay from Taiwan, but I'm a bit worried about fakes.

they do.. i cycled to work and the only time i had snow under my tyres was when passing through a park... there's a steep short uphill that is hard to walk on cycling up that takes some effort.. but going over snow my tyres kept the traction while pedaling up that.. which was surprising! 23 mm slicks.

Think it's fine as long as an ice layer hasn't formed underneath the snow. That's when it gets a bit dangerous!

I've signed up for the long route for a laugh. That Cragg Vale climb looks tiring though, and what is it with 8am starts? Am I the only one that likes to sleep in on a Sunday?

I'd think all my Christmases had come at once if I ever got to sleep until 0800 hrs. Our little monkies get us up around 0530. Every day :(

It is a pain if you don't live in the area though. You could always get a cheap room somewhere near by the night before?

Most Chinese stuff doesn't bother me, but for some reason the thought of a stem shearing and me face planting as a result really makes me shudder.

It's hard to know as well, because some of the 'grey market' parts are just production over-runs from the official factories, whereas others are just copies. The quality and location of the lettering is usually a give away, but they seem to be getting better at it all the time.

I'm not too far away. I'm going to get the Mrs to give me a lift up there. It's only 30mins or so. She's not impressed with being up that early either though now :(

Yuck, what manky weather, and it's just getting worse. I might drive in if it's this cold and miserable tomorrow. That said, I only spotted one driver being a moron and only one light jumper on the work. In this weather. And it's Monday. Something ain't right

Nice, how much did the build cost?

Dunno. I stated picking up bits for it back in August for a completely different build I was planning. What I can remember is:

Frame and fork: £450
TSP CX8.4 Mini-Vs: £90
Apex front mech: £30
Apex long rear mech: £50
Apex shifters: £190
105 hubs: £70
Kinlin ADHC rims: £30
Spokes: £40ish
12-27 Cassette: £40
Jagwire cable set: £20
FSA omega compact bars: £35
FSA K Lite Seatpost: £90
Fizik Arione: £50
3T Arx Pro Stem: £30
Apex crankset 170mm 34/50 (need some CX rings): £100
DSP Lizardskin tape: £25
Challenge Grifo XS tyres: £80 (I've also got Kenda Small blocks and Marathon Winters to go on).
Hope GXP adapted BB: £30

So that about £1500 all in. Not bad.
