It's like anything practise and you'll get used to it, that being said i've not tried it yet so will have to see how hard it is to get into the swing of things, your right on with what you said though, milliseconds matter

With regards to smartcast.
You can bind a second key to the abilities, so I would recommend binding 'Shift + Q/W/E/R' against the normal cast.
Doing this will allow you to check your range, if say for instance you are waiting in a bush for someone to appear, then you can quickly check your range.
But yea, I chose to learn smart cast a while back, and it certainly helps. Especially when you have several abilities you want to spam in quick succession.
Learning the ranges of champions will come as you play them more, so don't sorry about that.
One thing to remember is to turn smart cast of with rumbles ultimate

Is annoying huh? after my placement matches was at 1195, ever since ive gone down now im at 1024 it is ridiculous, the people i get paired up with is such crap, i'd take the blame if i had done bad but i haven't

I'm the first to admit if I have played poorly, I will always evaluate my performance as it helps me improve. The first game I did well in, that loss came down to poor focus in teamfights and they had a slightly stronger team comp. The second game, while I had a poor start I picked up well and managed to keep the enemy mid shutdown, but when your team force a 2v4 40 minutes into the game and your AD carry gets caught no less than 5 times by their top and wonder why we lose, there isn't much I can do. I started last night at 1253, i'm now at 1189. Eugh.
Yeah its frustrating, the silly mistakes that people make annoy me, i don't get angry if someone is outplayed, its when someone constantly dies due to the same mistake as before, had an instance the other night when our jungler jumped in to the enemy at botlane when we both said don't due to being on the verge of dieing, he then got killed and went afk flaming the whole time, its like winning the lottery if you get a good team :/
I might start playing Mord again, he used to be my main and lingered away from him... my god played him again last night , one of ranked games i played but 20-25 mins in i litrally had 4 of enemy team throwing all ultis / cc at me and i was still taking 2/3 down before dieing XD , was against zyra and eve everytime they cam close, E, Q Ulti and they where dead XD

Joking aside Mord is a beast, if jungling I'll do my best to shut him down early and if I'm against him I'll try and shut him down. I played Mord a fair bit so kind of knew how to play against him but a decent mord is proper huehuehue.

anybody play on eu nordic and east ?
Anyone looking for a player to tag along with? I'm lvl 13 at the moment but play daily. I play Malphite/Xi/Ashe and a couple of others well (so I think). Quite new to the game. On my way to unlocking Olaf. Would like to play with someone that knows what they are doing and doesn't take too many risks. Team play/killing is the way forward in my opinion.
I like playing with the likes of Teemo, Vilobear, Blitz? (yellow robot). Basically anyone that has some skills and doesn't focus on soloing!

It's pendent on the champion, but for some champs it's needed.
Ezreal get grabbed by Blitz - no problem, flash shift - can't do that without smart-casting.
Lee Sin would be pretty much impossible to play (well) without smart-casting as would Veigar or any other AP with a pretty solid combo with targeted/skill-shot abilities.

But it's more important for some champions than others (Skill-shot ones) or anybody with a quick stun combo.
In a 1v1 if using the same champion/gear/skill-level the smart caster will always win (as they will be slightly ahead on skills).
Learning to smart-cast items (death-fire grasp, or ward-jumping with Lee Sin) is also worth investing the time in.
The only downside is for a while you will be missing skill-shots (until you get used to smart-casting them) - but once you become adept you will be hitting better than before & much faster than before.
Nice that sounds really good, will also smart cast ignite, im actually really looking forward to learning to skill shot with it as, i've noticed my self casting a spell just too late when i would've killed them if i had used smart cast. using the items on smart cast will be awesome also

- start a bot game with Veigar if you have him.Then practice doing his full combo (with deathfire grasp) he's pretty good to practice with has he's got a combo of an off-alignment skill-shot (his stun), item activation (DFG), a landed ground attack & 2 targeting abilities in his combo.
You should be one to insta-combo-kill one person.
