Ever go to the pub on your own?

Does it count if it's your local?

I often go to the pub on my own, but I am good mates with the governor and am sociable with a few regulars who go in, so I don't know if that really counts.

Went out to a ski resort by myself to work and spent the best part of a month going out by myself, until I got pally with some people. That was 12 years ago and some of the people I met out there are my best friends now.

Not much of a fan of a whole evening on my own but nothing wrong with the odd pint on your own.

Plenty of moments call for it, especially when a free pint is on offer (got a free Guinness paddys day last year)

When I'm away for work, better than sitting in the hotel room. Normally there are others doing the same and if you sit at the bar people chat.

Same. I usually get a meal brought into the bar and have a few beers whilst watching any sport in the bar. The places I have to go with work mean that the people staying in the hotel are working for the same industry so you can usually end up chatting.

Once I was up till 2am with some totally random strangers. We watching Liverpool v Everton early in the night and a only after fair few beers later went back to my room.

I'm sat in the pub on my own right now, having dinner, enjoying.a pint of Pride, waiting for my girlfriend to finish work in about an hour and a half. Just finished a 3 hour drive to get here and wait, seems I budgeted a bit too long for the snow lol.

Sounds like a right good plan :D

I used to go to the pub by myself if I ran out of booze and the off license was shut. That wasn't a particularly social experience though, and usually involved ordering 2 double whiskeys and a pint from a barman called Mac while kicking at the torn lino flooring impatiently.

Now I go to the pub to kick ass at pool and get my drinks for free (water) :)

Went into a pub once or twice by myself, ended up chatting to one of the bar staff who was working (I knew her sister at school), ended up going home with her. Successkid.jpg

Don't see the problem with it. I wouldn't go on a night out on my own, but nothing wrong with a cheeky pint in a pub, especially in a new city. Would you eat at a restaurant on your own?

i went out on my own last night. blew 50 notes.

will be going the same on the 31`'st for my 21st b day.

superb, nothing wrong with going to the pub on your own! I used to do it quite a bit, although I've quietened down a bit these days.. I don't mind going for a bevvie or two on my own still tho. Sometimes its got to be done :)

Loads of times, chat to the bar staff mainly. Restaurants are a bit weird unless they have a bar area in which case prop up bar and chat to bar staff. Fair few times in the latter I've ended up with some freebie food or beers - its either pity or my platinum chat I'm undecided :p

Quite often I take the Kindle and have a pint with some grub while working away. During the week there are more people on tables for 1 than you realise :)

I wouldn't bother at the weekend though, you tend to get more of the idiots out to get ****ed.

Not something i make a habit of, but then i suppose it depends on what kind of pub it was, small local, or a quaint country pub i wouldnt really think twice about doing it, i would be more hesitant to do in in a busy downtown bar, then again i have been known to skulk off to a bar for a quick pint when i get fed up out shopping with the missus...:p

I've done it occasionally when I'm on holiday by myself, sometimes you meet nice people and sometimes it's nice just to watch the world go by. It used to be a fairly common occurrence that I'll be the first one in the pub while waiting for mates, it was always a bit odd hearing the excuse that they didn't want to go into the pub on their own - strange it was fine for me to show up on time but not for them as they might be there without company... but then again it's only a problem if you let it be.

Like Rich_L says the bar staff are usually happy to have a chat if they're not too busy, they might even be able to tell you better places to go for the rest of the night.
