Which is why I wanted to give mine as a percentage as its not relevant to the amounts as cost of living varies from place to place.

Free each month, about £400-500 which mostly goes on toys, clothes and essentials for my son.
My sharesave pays for holidays and other large purchases each year.
 
£1400 Mortgage is ridiculous! Your mortgage alone is almost as much as our outgoings!

A £1400 per month mortgage isn't ridiculous at all. A £350000 mortgage for 25 years at 3% interest is more than that and what does £350000 buy you these days? A nothing special 3 bedroom house in the south east.

Yeah it really does depend on where you are. £350,000 would by a nice house around North Herts.
