X-Men Day of Future Past (2014)

I enjoyed x men 3 (despite killing of most people or taking their powers away :p), imo a lot better than the first one (thought it was awful), not sure if I prefer it to the second one though....

How on earth did you think the first film was awful? For me;

X-Men > Last Stand > X2

Really dont know why everyone favours X2 over the rest, weakest villain of the 3 films and because of that it never really feels like the film goes anywhere. Looking at the 3 films as part of one big story X2 for me really is the meh middle part

Terrible script and acting wasn't great by most of the cast (Ian, Patrick and Hugh were the best), terrible action scenes (they constantly got their asses handed to them by mutants weaker than them and then had one moment of win), Cyclops was just a whimpy boy scout, nothing alpha about him at all (this applies to all the films that he was in) and in general just little things that annoyed me. It started of good but just got worse and worse imo.

Whilst Stryker was the weakest villain i.e. no mutant powers, he was very deadly due to having military control and experience, mutant son and mutant sidekick etc. i.e. just look at how far he came to succeeding in wiping every mutant out in the world, the x-men even had to team up with Magneto etc. in order to stop him and his plan.

For me, x men first class is better than all of those 3. Whilst it might not follow the comics or cartoons (have seen every episode of the tv series) as closely, it makes for a better "film" imho.

See what you didn't like about X-Men is what I really enjoyed, Singer tried to make the X-Men believable and thus they're not these well trained mutant super assassins but just people with abilities, having someone like Famke Janssen or Halle Berry beating up a dude (even if in this case it was just Toad) wouldn't really be all that believable, Wolverine out of the good guys was the only one with any real training and so it made sense that he was the only one who really got his hands dirty.

Still need to watch First Class again....

True! But considering their powers, even without training they still could have easily handled Toad :p (granted Storm did do just that in the end)

I would love to see a x men film with Apocalypse as the baddy some day, however, it would be extremely hard to pull of on the big screen since he is pretty much unstoppable and they would most likely have to introduce time travel. Either him or Sinister!

Still don't understand how people consider X-Men the best, how they can sit through X3 then say it was better than X2 and then have the balls to consider First Class the worst.

Really I thought Macavoy was Terrible with a capital T. Hated it most of it, it was like Xmen had stumbled through a gay festival. (First Class)

im assuming thats a play on the words there with "trask industries" being Stark Industries?

Hopefully they will give her the other powers i.e. strength and flight as she really was completely pointless in the films. Or at the very least put her to better use!

In the timeline they used for the original films they were using a very young Rogue, in the comics she absorbs Ms Marvell's powers and becomes pretty over powered, which is why they probably didn't do it.
As they are playing with timelines in this It would be cool to see her in that form.

Then again I also wish they would fix Gambit, didn't like the way he used his powers in origins.

Really looking forward to this though.

If they don't want to make Rogue too powerful for her enemies, they could've at least given Juggernaut the full treatment.

They neutered him and they neutered Rogue.
Rogue (with flying abilities and super strength) and Wolverine vs Juggernaut (with super size/power) would've made quite a sight.

What I felt was that the XMen movies neutered virtually all the main characters, just to make Wolverine and Magneto look the most powerful. This is a trap which Avengers didnt fall into, where everybody was shown at or near their full strength.

Rogue done properly would make a great main character for a movie. Unfortunately, Wolverine, Magneto and Prof X always get the major billing.

And regarding Gambit...I'm not sure what the fuss was about. Gambit in Origins was about right - nothing special. Sure, he can blow up things, but then Cyclops could burn a hole through Gambit if he wanted to.

There's a couple of promo posters kicking around for Professor X and Magneto too.

Like this one!! :)
