I'd like to use a turbo trainer just to work out my FTP and other stuff without having interference from wind, terrain etc but it'd only be out of curiosity. A comfier saddle would be nice and lighter wheels are always good but getting light wheels that support a 200lb rider and don't cost an arm and a leg would be like finding a unicorn.

I asked Planet X once about there Carbon tubulars and they said they are good for a 95kg rider (24 spoke rear 16 spoke front).

tbf when talking about carbon tubulars I don't think anyone should be riding them day in day out. You could use them fine for a 10 mile TT though.

what 10 speed chain do you guys think out of these?

all 10 speed, I'm guessing the x10-93 KMC is better than the other KMC options, and the same for the pc1051 over the pc1031 sram chains, but what about the ultegra?

or is it all just "meh, their all about the same"
If you can wait on delivery a little there are a few Taiwan sellers on ebay doing the KMC X10-SL for £24 free delivery - essentially under half price. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-KMC-X...sure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item43b8375f21

It's pretty much the daddy of chains and I've bought two from there now with no issues.

had an off! 3meters away from my DOOR! ffs.. theres a tiny little curb i need to get over and ride in our front garden.. but nooo that 1cm curb had to flip it up so bad i smashed my knee into a curb and my bike was in the middle of the road! best thing? NO PAIN.. thank god!

got home and was in a mood to mess around with the bike.. so i rebuilt both wheels with fresh grease and cleaned them up etc etc.. cassette is alright its the hub thats killing everything, the hub "walls" are ruined too so this is temporary and ill be getting a set of wheels ASAP.

the noise it makes it just stupid really sounds like and old motorbike with a blown exhaust.

now its quited(temporary im sure of it)

the seals that are meant to keep the water and dirt away from the bearings are RUBBISH.

so yeah

ocuk top tip.. if you buy triban 3 expect your wheels to go in 1-1.5k miles! :)

Lol no they did well for the price :-) and ive also smashed my motoactv and lost my last ride.. boo wont reach the 500 mile goal on strava :-\

The play in my Decathlon wheels was hilarious, they were rubbing on the chainstays by the end. Replaced them with Fulcrum Racing 7s and the bearings have lasted 3 years- replacing the bearings this weekend actually.

Define 'good'.

I wouldn't ride anything with 16 spokes on any of the roads near me and I'm 70kg.

I'm currently deciding between the Shimano RS30s which are 16 and 20, and the Planet X AL30s which are 20 and 24. Both sets come in at about 1.8Kg if memory serves. You reckon 20 and 24 is a better bet, then?

Or there's that set saytan mentioned on ebay, which is handbuilt but 36 spokes front and rear... Don't know how the weight on that set compares.

hey guys been awhile since i posted, moving house no broadband you get the idea.

Ive been out a bit, did the cumbrian cracker 60 miles was a good laugh, signed up for the eden valley sportive in march 60 miles, will be doing the team townend in april and the biggy

WTF have i got myself into

signed up for the fred whitton and got accepted into the sportive !

112 miles and 12'000 feet of climbing over some seriously brutal climbs

kirkstone pass, honister pass, newlands pass, whinlatter pass, and then after 80 miles the daddy hardknott and rynose pass !

aaahhh !!

so hows everyone else doing ? and any tips on completing this ridiculous ride ? :p

Knocked out another 30 miles tonight... Actually got some achievements tonight. My power is consistently abysmal but hey, I was built for distance, not speed.

24 and a bit miles to go and I'll get my 200 mile badge on the Base Mile Blast.

Had my RS30's on the bike for about 16 months & 7500 miles & had no issues. Roads round here aren't exactly smooth either, but they are due to be trued up on the next service in a month or two.
