Terminator 5

And Rocky is fantastic. EVERY TIME after watching, it's a case of "I WANT TO TRAIN", "I WANT TO TRAIN RIGHT NOW". How does it do that...

This. And the only duff one in the series is Rocky 5.

As for the Terminator series, for me it begins with T1 and ends with T2. T3 and T4 didn't float my boat, I'm afraid.

T1 is king.

I had a slightly younger friend who had only seen T2 so I recommended T1 and after watching it, he came back with the verdict 'It's ****'...

Young 'uns eh? This tip of the iceberg kind of foolishness is one of the reasons he's no longer a friend.

I'm willing to bet that the guy who gave the new Total Recall 10/10 here is of a certain age too ;)

Pffffffft, kids! :p

I think everyone at a younger age would have preferred T2 as I know of quite a few people who changed their mind when they got a bit older as well. Saying that, I have changed my mind on a lot of films as I got older, when I was younger I loved certain films but now not so much and vice versa for films that I didn't like when younger :p

I enjoyed the new total recall, think I give it a 7 out of 10, however, I didn't compare it to the original as it just doesn't stand a chance against it :D :p

T1 is just a bit too cheesy 80s action for me.

The music is horrendous...

:p

Damn, I miss these films, think I am going to have to go on an Arnie film fest over the next few weeks so be expecting lots of films in this thread to be getting 10/10 :D :p

BLASPHEMY!

'You got me burning' is brilliant!
Sarah Connor's shaggy dog haircut is timeless chic!

I'm serious about one of those statements ;)

+1 ;) :p

Was not a massive fan of Terminator 4

There are a few people in this thread that prefer t3 over t4. Both of which i hope most will agree are dog **** compared to t1 & t2. However i don't know how anyone can say t3 was better than t4.

The dude that played John Conner was a little turd defo not how i would picture the leader of the resistance and his acting wasn't that great either.
Scenes like Arnie trying on the stripper glasses and the talk to the hand scene saddened me too.

I enjoyed the first two filsm because they were dark, gruesome and petrifying in some scenes especially the end of t1.

I hope they base any future terminator films after judgement day.

Nick Stahl, the actor from T3 has been recently declared missing by his wife. Aside from his personal problems though I never saw him in anything else which only aggravates as to why they cast him in the first place. Probably casting or studio owed someone else a big favour.

T3 could have been great if :-

1. Edward Furlong (John Conner) from T2 was recast.
2. Humour levels remained at max T2 or less levels. E.g. no more than getting Arnie to stand on one leg in T2.
3. Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) was included
3. Complete rewrite of plot and storyline

Has Nick Stahl not shown up since that was reported? He went missing for a few weeks before that last report too.

You being serious about Edward Furlong!?!?! :o :p

He was good in T2, but he did not age well at all, was small, chubby and had that druggy/alcoholic look to him.

EDIT:

Here are some photos of him around the time of T3

My biggest gripe with T4 was the fact that the terminator could have killed Kyle Reese at any point when he was with him, instead of having to let him get caught and then get Connor to go to skynet central :o

I know, look at the fella who plays John Connor at around 1.44 in that clip. He looks like he could rip a Tigers spine out with his little toe. Oh my, and they replace him with this.

Just oh my

The problem with most modern films is the over reliance on CGI and that would ultimately spoil any film based after Judgement Day. :(

Just look at that clip of T2. The T-800 looks real, it crushes a skull beneath it's feet, the awkward robotic movements... It looks fantastic to this very day!

Using actual props, scale models etc.. is far more effective than today's CGI laden trash.

I thought that the "talk to the hand" scene was quite funny.
When a big guy who looks pretty mean, says that phrase to you, in reply to you asking that he pay for the goods before he leaves your store, what can you say? There is no reply.

During T3, my understanding was that Furlong was going through drug problems. If he was just fat (but not a druggie), they could've asked him to work out for 3 months in preparation for the movie...but apparently his mind was "gone".

I liked T3, mainly because it was a bright and entertaining movie.
For sure, it wasn't as good as T2 (T2 was ground breaking and one of only 2 movies I ever saw twice at the cinema), but T3 felt that like a continuation of T2 (albeit, with 10 years-odd having passed).

T4 on the other hand had a completely different vibe to it. The colours were drab. The movie itself was pretty depressing (though I guess this could not be avoided) and aside from Sam Worthington, the movie was pretty bad. Bale was awful in it. It felt that he merely turned up for the pay-cheque (which is very unlike him, given that he likes to give his all, for every role he plays). It was as if he came off the set of Batman and went straight onto T4 - Batman gruff voice and all.

Given that in T2 and T3 we saw such advanced terminators, it would've been nice to have seen a glimpse of some advanced terminator prototypes which we'd not seen yet.

In T1, we saw the T800. A machine capable of wiping out an entire Police precinct and surviving.
In T2, we saw the T1000. A machine which is near indestructible.
In T3, we saw the Tx, which is capable of reprogramming other Terminators, within minutes.
In T4, we saw Sam Worthington, who was a cyborg, but not quite a Terminator. This was a step backwards I felt.

Anyway, we must look towards T5. I certainly will watch it.
