Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Do people critique CV's in here? I have 2 CV's and trying to choose between them both as both have their merits but after hours I find myself going in circles.

Had a call from the employer I'm possibly moving to, talking me through the assessment etc.

Numbers are pretty small and they're recruiting for the next 6 weeks - my assessment is on Wednesday. Apparently as long as I'm good enough, I'm in.

So excited!

Also on the work programme myself, they are useless ******s and i just get stressed out the day before seing them every fortnight !!

Job centre arent much cop either :(

Ouch,

Yeah I Was going weekly (was a REAL headache I HATED it, just that sitting there while they talked crapp to me), that's why when they just didn't book me another appt I didn't chase them up.

sounds familiar, the jobcenter and now the work program both seem to be not fit for purpose. like iv said above its been 2 months since my last appointment (to be honest not bothered as being told the same thing every 2-4 weeks isnt exactly helping much) but now with a change of adviser i just hope this one doesnt have the silly idea that i should be down weekly for job searches, im doing them daily from home as it is, dragging myself down to their office aint going to help me and will if anything get me in a even worse mood.

but who knows, they may actually try and help this time rather than looking gormless and having me fill out application forms for companies who dont actually have any jobs on the go at the mo, "but you never know"

I've been for a second interview and felt it went really well and I am due to hear today either way, although I have been asked to attend another Interview on Thursday for another company...

For instance say I get offered the job today, is it OK for me just to cancel the interview for Thursday?

Or should I delay my potential start date and just go to the interview, trouble is what If I like it and i've already accepted an offer??

It's good to have options!

What if in the worst case, the first job decide they cannot take you on (as per a previous example in this thread)? I'd go to the other interview mate, it can't hurt.

Saying that, it depends on how soon the first company want you to start!

update to my situation.

went for 2 interviews.

one with a company directly and one through an agency.

i chased the agency for days for a response and never got one so called the company direct. he said to speak to the agency as i should have had some feedback.

i didnt call the agency back again (he said he'd call on a number of occasions and didnt)

other company got back in contact with me and said the interview went really well but due to the work slowing down theyve decided not to employ anyone at this current time and to go back to them in a few months.

have another interview today after work. not really feeling it to be honest. will go and see what its like as its all experience but think im going to stay put a bit longer and continue to look.

sounds like your typical agency joe, had my fill of them over the years its all hurry up and wait. all the ones localy to me are all the same, demand a cv and info and thats the last you'l hear off them as they have so many people on their books.

i didnt want to go through them really but cant always find the company from the agencies vague descriptions, and even when i can they have no vacancies listed.

the thing that seems to let me down is that i dont have the qualifications. i went straight to work from college so worked my way up to where i am.

i know what you mean about some agencies and there mystery jobs. here two agencies where advertising jobs doing the bins, funny thing is both agencies had been black listed by the council a year before and they only used one agency to get all the staff they needed, i phoned one of the dodgy ones and asked why they where advertising jobs they dont have and they just told me to sling my hook if i dont want work.

seems the rules these guys are supposed to abide by just dont work.

like wise on the qualifications, left school at 16 with 7 gcse's and started work. hence im now at a loss on the jobs market being 35 with no flashy qualifications to try and get work with. hence im trying to start something myself but the help im getting and the speed its going is rather annoying.

what is it you do?

what im trying to do is get in to photography as some form of income. just hope i can start making a income by the end of the year with it, biggest issue for now is equipment so trying to save what i can to get a few extra odds and ends.

Anybody here on JSA that has delt with this universal job match website ?

They keep encouraging people to sign up at my local job center.

It's exactly the same as the old website but in theory they can now track the jobs you look at and see if you are job hunting (because you have to log on with an id to get to the jobs page).

Hasn't helped me really but if you know specifically what you want to do/are trained for it wont be too bad.
