Show us your kitty cats

As said, not much you can do, just the nature of cats really, to defend "their territory", TC is the same, will scare any cat of, the neighbour's cat no longer goes out because of him :( (although she is pretty old now anyway, iirc 17 years old)

We have had her since April 12 and she has been going out pretty much since day one (after the statuary 2 weeks in doors)

She used to have a 'friend'...a white and ginger boy cat, who she pinned in a corner once. After that, he would come and sit on the back wall of our yard, and wait for her to come out. Then they would hang out together and he (being much bigger than her) would defend her and they would be like a tag team.

Unfortunately I have not seen him around now for about 4 months...I have no idea what has happened to him, so she is back fighting everything and everyone :(

Defending their territory is something they do unfortunately. I don't think its possible to stop her doing it but as above says she'll learn who to avoid.

Has she been vaccinated against feline leukaemia? Cats that get into fights are more likely to get it and its not normally given as routine at the vets. You should maybe ask about it if your unsure as she is at a much greater risk if she's continually getting into fights.

Ooh, I didnt know that, thanks dogma. I am not sure what treatments she had but the RSPCA give all re-homed cats vaccinations etc before they place them. I will check her paper work when I get home.

I just worry about her cause these other cats she scraps with are a lot bigger than her and tbh she struggled to kill the bats she was bringing in back in Autumn so I don't think she is that 'hard' :o

On a side note - I take it she will need booster vaccinations at some point?

Trixilux:-

I'm guessing she would've had 2 lots of injections to begin with. Normally don't at 10 and 12 weeks I think but depending on what age you got her it could've been later. Vets routinely vaccinate against enteritis and cat flu but a lot need to be asked before giving the leukaemia vaccination.

Boosters should be given yearly. I think leukaemia vaccine needs a booster too. I don't vaccinate mine against it as neither has the virus, they're indoor and don't come into contact with any other cats.

Some cats do have a reaction to the vaccine (as they could with everything else) and it normally presents itself as a hard lump at the injection site. Daily massaging should make it go back to normal.

A reaction can be a worry but the disease is spread through blood and saliva and I think the figure is given as 3 years to live with infection so it is something to really consider.

The vet should be able to tell you which vaccines she's had if the vaccination booklet doesn't. Mine have been vaccinated with tricat and novicat vaccinations and neither contain the leukaemia vaccine.

Thanks for the info Dogma, will defo be checking her info when I get in and will start the process of getting her checked and vaccinated by the vets

Apart from the medical issues others have mentioned, I wouldn't worry about the fighting. Territorial scrapes between cats can sound and look pretty worrying, but they aren't going to do serious harm to each other.

Love the parrot-cat, rwm24. I have a picture of mine like that somewhere.

That actually made me cry :(

God that was a hard read :( Yeah I'll admit me a burly 37 year old fella...was also shedding a few tears :(

It is amazing how much a cat can become like a child to you. Nurturing it and watching it grow and thrive, almost like a real child.

I'm now off to wrestle a dinosaur to feel manly again....

@knip

How are your darlings doing? Have you heard anymore about Lola's test results?

Nope, she finished the last of her antibiotics for the intestinal infection (what made her ill in the first place) today, and is jumping about like a loon as ever. Dave's managed to hurt his paw, so i've been bathing that in salt water, and I think i've successfully fixed that without a trip to the vet.

Couple more pics

Video of their new game (click to make work) Dave hides in the wardrobe and I can't work out if Lola is trying to "get" him, or if she's shutting him in there :p

Our cat Spike has a reprieve from his trip to the vets that we thought we may have to make on Friday. He's finished his course of medication and we were going to give it until the end of the week to see if he got any better. The past couple of days he's been so much more back to his normal self :)

Just to post a few pictures - here's my mother in laws cat "Ollie"

She got him from the cats protection league a few weeks ago and he's settled in well. We think he's about a year old and he's got so much energy compared to poor spike who is 16 :o

I am glad she is acting normal and happy now knip :) I was worried about her and you last week. I know the tests are not back yet, but from what you are saying (and from that vid) she seems back to her old self again which is great :D

Been a whilst since I put up some videos :)

Haha, thats great!

Dexter decided to jump in the toilet the other day. I usually have the lid down and he jumps on it while I'm in the bathroom, however the other day I'd left it up, he came charging in, jumped up to what he thought was the lid and ended up going feet first down into the toilet! :D
