My bib shorts came today, tried them on and not really sure how they are supposed to "fit" but they seem to have a perfect fit on me though,

they feel of a high quality clothing, unlike my Endura Humvee shorts i use at the moment! lol

Has anyone used a bike stand like this:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=3978

The bottom bracket sits at the bottom, and then the downtube sits in another holder. I'm wondering if that arrangement is ok in terms of the cables. If it stops the cables moving it's no good for testing the gears.

I only ask because I can get a stand like this for under £30, while the designs with the clamp that holds the seat tube or top tube cost a fair bit more... And I'm all about the saving money.

Looks good, I really need one of those.

I assume you use it on your carbon bike? Do you hold it by the seat post or top tube? Don't fancy crushing my frame!
Yup all 3 of my bikes are carbon frames, 2 built from scratch on this and I've had no trouble.

I usually clamp on the top tube simply because I don't think I'd be ever ham-fisted enough to crush the frame. The clamp just doesn't need to be that tight at all and carbon is a lot tougher than people think.

But you can easily clamp the seat tube or even the actual seat post if you like, that way your not even clamping the frame.

Looks good for the money, and it does look like it would fold down better.

Do you have any bother with the front of the bike swinging about unsecured when it's up there?
No becuase its easy to tilt the bike forward with the rotational level/clamp thing, so if the bike tilts a little forward the front of the bike will always hang straight, so to speak.

Anyway you also get an additional attachment with a couple of rubber straps on this lets you strap other parts of the bike to stop any movement.

I will say that I have built and maintained loads of bikes on it and have had no issues with unwanted movement etc.

EDIT: Also it comes with a tool/nut/bolt holder that attaches halfway up it which is very handy.

Does anyone here have a spare 120mm/31.8mm stem lying around they wouldn't mind lending me to try out for a bit before I buy one?

I've moved my seat forward a touch but it's causing a bit of knee ache so would like to return in to it's original position and try a shorter stem.

Current is a 130mm, I ride an XL Boardman Team Carbon and that's the default size.

Thanks for the link, it doesn't matter that it's listed as an MTB stem does it? Still the same size at the fork mount?

read somewhere that because of weight restrictions it's not that much heavier than the ones used currently?

Well, people talk about them practically having to stick stuff on to some of the carbon bikes to get them up to the lower weight limit, so it's possible it's not that much heavier.

my triban with its new wheels.. and without the front mudguard(RIP)

quality is poop but thats the best my phone could do, i quite like the new wheels(look wise) performance wise they are a huge improvement and a lot stiffer than my 32/32 which was a surprise these being 24/20

I've one of those stands off of ebay, very easy to use, stable and stores easily.

Mine also came with a bar with rubber loops at each end that you can attach to the stand and the bike to stop it moving so much when you're working on the bike.

Use it on my carbon framed bike by rotating the clamp and lightly clamping the seat post...
