Lovely 135 shame it's not 3 door but that's personal preference.

As you said, personal preference, but I can never understand why people think that the looks of a 3 door outweigh the fact that you can easily get your mother / granny / baby / friends in the back without fannying around with the front seats.

If you literally only ever drive yourself, then fine, but then why did you buy a 1 series?

It's not like the rear seats are much use even if you pick a 5 door. You'll fit a couple of kids in but they're not comfortable for an average sized adult with normal sized people in the front. They're clearly designed for occasional use as if not you'd just get a 3 series.

Looks wise I think the three door looks far sleeker than the five door and being 6' 3" when you open the door on a five door 1 series and the B pillar sits so far forward it's a pain to get in and out. Yes it's more difficult for passengers but that's their problem.

I’ve booked a test drive in a 135i this week, have high expectations :)

Don't confuse the 135i and the M135i. Despite the similar name they are completely different cars, the 135i is a cabriolet or coupe version of the old 1 series which is still available to buy new.

Is the M135i that's getting all the love in this thread, which is the all new 1 series hatch.

re engine sound - I did some further research - I see the M135i uses "artificially" enhanced interior engine noises :( pity I prefer the sound of the actual BMW straight 6 - which I've always thought sounded superb

I activated mine online from the website. I think you have to call them to get your unique user/pass but after that its all done online. Definitely worth it as your getting it free :)

Have I actually used it for anything? Nope! They will give it to you until April I think as its linked into the car from new for 3 years (in my case mine is a 07/11 so will run till 07/14 before I need to pay for it!).
Well I have just filled in the form online. Should get a call from BMW over the next couple of days.

I wonder what features there will even be for for my 2007 E91 (pre LCI)!?

Very nice mate!

I have exactly the same car on order, delivery 1st week of April.

Adding it in from the stereo just isn't ever going to be the same though. Ducting it in I guess isn't quite as bad.

having owned mine since 1st week in November I can honestly say this "dilemma" never enters into my consciousness whilst driving.

I've previously owned VTEC's, V6 Alfas and boxer engines with twin carbs so can appreciate the sounds of a genuine glorious engine/induction noise

seems to be an issue with non owners more than owners from persoanl experience and what I've read on relevant owner forums

also, when you drop the windows the noise is most definately there externally, the in car acoustics are different depending on which driving mode you select

I agree. All I noticed when I drove a BMW with this system fitted was that every time I nailed the throttle, it sounded awesome. I wouldnt have known it had this sort of thing fitted if I hadn't already read about the whinging on the internet.
