Google Glass update thread.

If they sit right weight isn't that much of an issue for me. From the prototypes so far they don't look like they're going to be incredibly bulky either.

Love the idea of these, but worry about it streaming what you can see, the state has a new army of eyes type of thing...paranoia overload probably. But I think this is the way we are going. Personally from a media point of view, this is brilliant.

i bet the prototypes are worth more than the average person's salary or something along those lines.

if these had to be made for £250 you can bet they would be nothing like the prototypes in terms of size, comfort, technology or usability. like i say, don't expect these to be readily available or mass marketable any time soon.

it's a great idea though

even if they are substantially bigger and weigh 10 times as much as a normal pair of glasses?

Substantially bigger? Nope
10 times heavier? Not a chance

Next?

I've always bullied people who wear glasses, if I wear these that would make me a hypocrite, no thanks.

lol if you really think those things are the same ones being used to make the videos, i can bet you they are a design concept.

funny how you cannot see them in the videos eh?

I bet you they are.

Heres a pic of Sergey Brin wearing his

edit: The catwalk video you saw was actually taken in an american fashion show, I'll find the pics of the models wearing them now.

no those glasses are basically just a video camera, there is no microphone and there is no voice recognition, etc.

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/46284/google-project-glass-demoed-out-of-plane

as you can see in this link they cost $1500 and that is only for the video camera functionality.

in the new demo videos they have added a mic, voice recognition, the ability to take still pictures, stop and start recording, etc.

the early version which is the same as the picture above can only record video, and has no other functions as far as i can see.

so they managed to add all the other stuff, yet kept the design the exact same? also after adding all the additional stuff, imagine what the price now is of a model, even if the design is the same, your talking a glorified camera before and a fully functioning voice activated camera/ sat nav/ guide, etc.

the one in the new videos will probably cost $15K and look bigger than the one in the pic

you can clearly see in the video in my link the many users press a button on the glasses to start recording, basically its a camera on a set of glasses with a start stop button with a small overlayed screen

Could you show your working? I can't award any marks for this answer otherwise.

why don't you come back to this thread when they are released for £1000 a set this year, and look exactly like the picture posted above with all of the functionality in the video of the OP.

i'm guessing that a lot of the stuff is done by a phone or another device, the glasses are only a HD camera with either bluetooth or wi-fi connectivity used to connect to the other device.

it is the other device which will have all the power. without it the glasses will be useless. this is how i see it working in it's current form.

Surely all the processing for these glasses is done on the android phone that is in your pocket and not the glasses themselves?

How do you know the retail version will be £1k?

Cramer off CNBC had a talk with Sergey Brin who sez they are lighter than sunglasses and at the mo are expected to sell for $1k so I guess we'll get a decent rate off Google Play, iirc Cramer go it to try them out anyway he was very enthusiastic and gave them a good push.
