because only ever trying something you've had before it the way to go....
I mean, if you've had cod you'd never want salmon and if you've had beef you'd never want to try horse.......

does that really matter?

Whole grain digests slower so you get a more steady stream of energy which is more usuable by the body rather than white processed cereals which are broken down quite quick and give a big bump in energy which your body might not be able to use as the body can only use a certain amount of glucose at a time.

What does everyone think? Guess the real question is dura ace mech vs di2

Di2 for me.

Depends how much you want to spend!
I'd at least get the core components how you want them from the off (frame, groupset, wheels) then upgrade the peripheral items later on if you are not 100% happy.

Brown versus white does make a difference. True for bread as well. Same reason gels and the like have a mix of sugars so you get a kick now and a slower burning release as well.

Well, one thing with dura ace mech - upgrading to di2 would be a PITA. Basically I'd be stuck with it. But it is pretty awesome to start with

Sod it, think I should just go with the Di2/Ritchey components option. Leaves me with plenty leftover if I fancy other new bits as well

why in the hell do i want to do the 100mile ride tomorrow.. why? i know i can't do it(well i dont believe in my self tbh)

but i still feel like giving it a go :o

Give it a go and see what happens? Plan a route with a couple of options for cutting it short if you need to. Eat plenty before you leave and take food with you as well and keep eating. You'll be surprised at how far you can ride, once you start getting doing over 40/50 per ride, the miles really build up fast.

I was planning it as well, but its snowing here now so i think i'll be on the mountainbike tomorrow :(

We had a bit of snow in the middle of the night, but looking out it hasn't come to anything. Hopefully it's not all lurking up in the hills waiting to trip us up.

Just about to set off for my 100 miler today, and hopefully 150.....not quite sure about the 150 miles though, I've been cycling a fair bit this week already, so I'm not sure if I have that in me.

Good luck, I'm setting off at 11:00am.

After three years of single-speed I've finally got some gears on my bike, unfortunately only six of them are in working order at the moment. A stretched chain is sure to make the ride even more challenging.

It's horrible out there and I only did a 16mi round trip to the Pearson bike shop!

Cold, windy, snow flurries. The only positive is it's dry.

Do it! Even if you don't do the 100 you'll still enjoy it. Just keep eating often and pace yourself. That's my biggest problem, pacing myself.

Edit: Here's my route for tomorrow.

Not a 100 miler, but still my hardest ride to date. Not far off fifty miles, about 3,400 feet of climbing (though my fellow rider's Garmin reported more?) and all that not far above freezing with snow coming down for much of it. One guy had a mechanical as we set off and then couldn't shift to the big ring so had to make pedalling like a madman on the flats and downhills. Mind you, by about halfway round we were all mullered so mechanicals or not, we were pretty much all in the small ring anyway.

And now I take my daughter swimming...

Go for it! Just pace yourself and don't set out too fast. At 15mph it's about 7 hours though

I know and that is a problem! Unless i head out of london :-) i just woke up - had a really tiring day yesterday so it looks like ill be riding tomorrow.

I could do 5 laps of my daily commute which would bring it to ~1
0+ miles the problem is that it would take me ~80 mins/lap :O

Doing multiple laps of your commute would be incredibly dull surely!

Part of the enjoyment of cycling for me is getting out of the city.

I dont live in a big city anymore but when i lived in glasgow i found that getting out of the city split up the ride.
I had to ride 8-9 miles to get out of the city, so i had already done 9 miles when i "started" my ride. When you get back into the city on the way home, it feels like your almost home, but still have 9 miles to go. It splits the ride up nicely and you dont notice the extra 18 miles as much.

Saying that, i much prefer living in a smaller city where i can go any direction out of the city in less than 2 miles.
