I did 50 miles not long ago, 30 miles with the club and when they finnished i rode an extra 20 miles on my own, and i found it much harder on my home, so im hopeing ill be in a group tommorow that i find a good pace for me, otherwise im going to struggle

i did the original reliability route a few weeks back on my own, and it was hard going on my own

when your back in the saddle, lets get together one Sunday and do a group ride together or do a ride out on our own and get a pint along the way

Don't be disheartened, it's always more difficult on your own, even for the Pros. Riding with a group is better for a number of reasons, it isn't just about sitting on and having a rest. You will get better, just look for gradual improvement rather than anything overnight. 50 miles isn't a short distance, so you'll have done well to finish it, but make sure you enjoy it. Listen to the group leader and take your turn on the front and smile! It's good fun ;)

I'm going to hop on the Turbo tomorrow and see how my chest is. Might take you up on that next weekend?

Oh yeah, my big heap of climbing today puts me at over 10k feet climbed in the last 4 weeks, so I can tick off one of my targets for the year. Admittedly the easiest, but hey ho! One down, three to go.

Congratulations!

I still don't 'get' Strava though. I understand it, but I don't have that competitive feeling towards someone I've never met :D

Maybe this is more important for me, as I'm still new to this so improvements are more tangible, but the main person I compete against on strava is me, doing those segments last week, or last month or last year. Placing well on the leader board is nice too, but the truth is I'm just not good enough (yet?) to place anywhere remotely impressive. So for now so long as I'm scoring personal bests, that's enough for me. 31 achievements on today's ride felt quite good

Interesting. Competitive club cycling is typically exactly that, i.e. competing against loads of people you've never met.

I didn't explain that very well. I meant that I'm competitive racing against 'real' people who are physically on the road, I just can't get competitive racing against a time someone else did the previous day or whatever.

I did my 50 mile reliability ride today

and becuase only 20 people turned up we all went in one group (which i thought was too much for the road) but sadly it was FAST, ended up doing it all myslf, and i did it in 3hours 30

Endemondo is saying 3 new records
- 10 miles @ 33mins
- 20 K @ 42 mins
- 50 miles @ 3h20
