If you rode with your friend, could you not download his gpx file then upload it as yours and crop it to where you started and finished?

He recorded it on his iPhone or I'd be doing just that. One thought would be I could download his gpx file for the ride and crop it? Not sure if it would work but any Strava premium members fancy giving me a hand please? :)

Are these Garmin computers worth getting?

£400 seems and awful amount of money:(

I got an Edge 800 with the OS maps hardly used with all the stuff inc heart rate and cadance sensor for £300 off the bay

Yes they are worth getting, really useful as a traning tool and courses that i use, you can set alerts on it too, keep an eye on your heart rate, cadance, speed, distance, time, virtual partner, GPS mapping, Guidance to destination etc

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

I'm in an hour long battle with a wrench and my old pedals. One is off the other is stuck fast. Would really rather avoid the embarrassment of having to take it to my lbs to change a pedal.

What do you want it to do?
The Edge 200 will do all the basics: recording where you have been, distance, speed, time and costs <£100.
If you want something with maps/navigation, that will cost a lot more.

Yeah, I have an Edge 205 which i picked up for £50. Only thing I use it for is cycle computer + recording rides, but you can actually use it for waypoint navigation, great little device.

I had this. Put your shoes on, clip in and use your body as a counter-weight. I hadn't greased mine very well it seems :(

Just to double check, are you turning the wrench the correct way? Left hand pedal is left hand thread but I'm sure you know that!

Good idea, I'll go get kitted up.

I hope so! You loosen the opposite way than you pedal? As in it tightens when you're peddling?

Does that work? If the gpx files you pull out of strava don't have time stamps then it will be a route map rather than a record of a completed journey, and presumably strava won't accept it when it is re-uploaded.

But I suppose it depends on exactly what is in the gpx file that you can download from strava.

You could get something pretty decent used for that price take a look at Gumtree/eBay. My Trek 1.1 was around £280 in mint condition and 6 months old when I got it.

Otherwise the Btwin Tribans at £300 new seem to be pretty popular on here.
