What is the actual point of fixies for riding around on? not like a track bike
I think you'd all be surprised.
I find riding up hills (standard hills, we're not talking alpe d'huez here) much easier fixed, you just keep going, no struggling up or spinning away your knees.
Its a much cleaner and smooth ride, theres no latency between your legs and the bike,
Added to that get decent quality bits, and you have a bike that rides endlessly is easy to keep clean and maintain and is loads of fun to ride!
You should all give it a go ;]

I'd hate to see the state of the knees on a person who rides hills on a fixie regularly.
I fully intend to. I'm going to buy the bits for and build a decent ally bike next year, and then a fixie/singlespeed (with a flop flub hub) the following year. I reckon I can do it for £3-400.
No I mean almost anything in the UK
I do highgate repeats on my fixed bike regularly!
That seems really well specced for the price, what's the catch?
the general consensus is they will do very little for your cycling fitness bar improving your pedaling technique.
And giving you large, powerful quads!
Well, yeah it is, but I can live with it, anything else? Any idea if the frame itself is any good?^ the frames ugly as ****

I love sitting behind fixed gear bikes going down hills and watching those legs go into turbo never fails to amuse
I have one on my ever growing wish list.
yeah easily!
watch out for the slippery slope, i dont want to know how much I've spent on my gitane in total now..
lol
I dont think ive seen any fixies on the road, could be wrong though
