Geforce Titan rumours.

Here is the first (as I can see it), benchmark comparing CUDA performance within VRay RT using GPU-enhancement: VERY promising!

Notice that OpenCL is totally broken with the current drivers, so ignore that result. But that time saving is HUGE. Very significant. This is what we were hoping for!

EDIT: That was from a chap called Brian on the VRay forums, so not publicly accessible unless you own Vray.

I quote myself for reference, but I did realise that this is comparing to a 680 not a 580. 680s are notoriously poor compared to 580 for CUDA rendering. Something to do with the way the architecture changed and not making use of all the cores etc... so the REAL test will be Titan V 580. Hopefully someone will post some results soon... but meanwhile a 47% Speed Boost of Titan over a 680 is GREAT. Very promising.

I thought the best CUDA related mainstream cards released within the last 5 years were the 570's?

In what way? Probably in value-for-money/bang-for-buck, yes. The common card I see used today in low>mid end users is a 580 because it's great for gaming and for CUDA rendering. But we normally try to compare the top end of each with single GPU config, so... 580, 680, Titan etc.

I wonder if those improvements in speed will translate well into crunching seti which uses cuda thanks for that :)

Lads I'm getting bored of the RTM's for this thread now.

Keep the thread on topic or run the risk of the thread being locked.

I did ask Huddy to close the thread a few days ago and it was going quite nicely, so I guess he gave it a chance.

Maybe a good time to lock it? If anyone has a Titan, they could maybe start a new thread showing some bench results and general feel for it please.

On a side note, I should* be getting my Titans tomorrow.

* If I don't get ****** about again.

:D

Well done Andy :D

I'm hoping to at least get my Titans for the weekend and will post some bench results. Should be interesting on how well they run with the i7 920.

I know someone on another forum, who is getting Geforce Titan cards to replace their GTX580s for some of their rendering work. The K20X is meant to be much faster than a GTX580 in this case and the Geforce Titan AFAIK,is not artifically looked regarding compute performance too.

Not only is power consumption is better but compute performance is meant to a big upgrade.

Compute performance doesn't interest me but these Titans should be perfect for GPGPU Cuda work.

Very well I would think

X58 has no problem running GTX 690s in fact they sometimes run better on X58 than they do on X79.

Errm now how many slots has my old R3E mobo got.:D

Good news on your cards Greg, don't think I am going to see mine today now :(
Still surprised nobody posted who received toys yesterday....Although not really surprising is it

That's good news

Are you still getting them from the same place or have you switched.

Cheers Kaap.

Same place. It would be a pain to switch and I wouldn't have the funds back on the card for 3 days (normally what happens).

Cheers Jakus.

Someone who has one could feel intimidated if they post results and hopefully the mods will keep an eye.

Geforce Titan is essentially the consumer version of the K20X. OK,the drivers are different,ie,consumer grade and probably the hardware, but whatever the GTX580 this can do better.

It will be interesting to see how much faster it will be when compared to the GTX580 3GB.

BTW,what games are you running for your review??

Are you going to try out Crysis3??

I don't have crysis 3 :( I have been too slow in the MM to get one but will buy it later and install it tonight on my pathetic 500K download speed :(

That is the AMD bias in you talking.

The AMD bias will take you to the dark side!!
Hehe, I have not bought a AMD card for around 15 years and it will be another 15 years before i buy another one.:)

Really? So the most recent game on there, Crysis 3, 690 min 10fps, titan 24fps...
All the graphs are very similar, please show me where the 690 "smashes" the titan

Where the 690 does win it's around 10-15% faster

In fact the titan has higher minimum framerates in nearly everything... bf3 is the only one that swings in the 690's favour in a big way

It still smashes it in maximum fps, Dont forget to include Metro2033 where the performance on Titan is an embarrassment.

I have a 690 and there is no way i would swap it for a Titan even if the price was £700 for the Titan.:)

I have a 930 clocked at 4.4 ht on fully stable in all stability tests on custom water setup.

The 690 works very very well and is not bottlenecked whatsoever.
However i know also from using a 920 c0 revision at 3.8ghz will bottleneck the card and also bottleneck 2x 680's.
