Leave your pc on at night? Or turn it off?

Off, unless you need it to help keep the chill away on these cold winter nights.
Should set up the PC to sleep after, say, an hour of inactivity. That way it'll take care of this itself.

Leave it on, all the time. I also like leaving the house heating on full blast while I go on summer holiday. I leave my car engine running all day while I'm in the office at work. I drive long motorway journeys in 1st gear, make sure all the taps are at full blast before I leave any bathroom, and wear nothing but a bikini in winter. Oh yeah, I also sell horses to Burger King.

I use Sleep mode during the day when I'll be away from the PC for up to around 4 hours or so. I turn it completely off at night though. I'd suggest you use sleep mode more, hardly uses any electricity too.

personal choice though really, turn off if need be

electricity isnt a problem if all the power saving is enabled on your pc,helps lengthen the life of components also as they arnt running full pelt all the time

Helps yes but not in a big way. Mine has been dropping greatly a lot the past month since switching it off every night. Even though I have every power saving feature on.

generally, unless I'm downloading anything, I'll turn my pc off. Besides waiting 10 seconds for it to boot is hardly painful ;)

I have it set to sleep after an hour. Not really sure why i bother tbh as it hardly even saves 5p in electricity a day.

I leave all 3 of mine on with just the monitor switching itself off, along with my surround amp both table lamps and the a/c running 24/7

Not paying for electricity is awesome!

The only reason I never turn mine off, is bad past experiences with harddrives not spinning up when cold booting in the morning. I was very lucky to get my files back (persistance), and for that reason would rather keep my PC on 24/7 than lose my data.

And there's nothing worse than cold fan bearings grinding away in the morning.

8 years of my AMD build... neither ever happened, even though it was built from components in scrap yard...
