Rumblings abound that AMD have their own 7990 out in July, but why I don't know.

AMD Redoing Radeon HD 7990 Under New Codename - "Malta"
AMD topped off its "Southern Islands" graphics card family with Radeon HD 7990 "New Zealand," although it didn't have a reference design board of the said SKU. Around October 2012, AIB partners PowerColor, VTX3D, and Club 3D each released their custom design Radeon HD 7990-branded graphics cards, which packed a duo of Radeon HD 7970 GPUs, a total of 6 GB of memory, making up for a dual-GPU solution. Among most of these, the GPUs were clocked in the neighborhood of 950 MHz, and memory at 5.50 GHz. ASUS joined the party much later with the ROG ARES II, with 1100 MHz core, 6.00 GHz memory, and liquid cooling, but commands a hefty $1,600. Post GTX Titan, ARES II remains, at least according to AMD, the single fastest graphics card. The company seems interested in standardizing a new set of specifications for HD 7990, which could be priced competitively against NVIDIA's GTX Titan and GTX 690.

Enter the new Radeon HD 7990 "Malta," a new codename, redone specifications (clock speeds), same dual-GPU graphics card, with [hopefully] a competitive price. Its development checks out with AMD's recent statement in its teleconference last month, where it stated that we could see "more HD 7990 action" this year. According to a Technic3D report, AMD is looking to replace the generally accepted 925/950/1350 MHz (core/PowerTune Boost/memory) clock speed standard of the HD 7990 with something over 1000 MHz, probably even 1050 MHz for the core. There is no word on memory clock speed changes, although with its 384-bit wide memory interfaces, we don't imagine the "Tahiti" GPU to be facing a dearth of memory bandwidth. The HD 7990 "Malta" like the HD 7990 "New Zealand," will lack an AMD reference design, so one could expect more custom-design cards by partners. The new SKU could launch some time before July.

@Hamish, regardless if it's an Nvidia title, it doesn't really matter if you play it with AMD gpu's just to get bugged out instability, that is completely different from poor comparative performance.

Agreed but knowing Nvidia they tend to do that with games with there logo all over them.

To play Divinity 2 i have to install Physx even though im on a 7970 lol :\ its really stupid.

COH 1 also has Nvidia badge on it and runs **** with AMD cards on certain settings.

Because it uses the CPU PhysX stuff, that's not stupid at all >.<
 
Physx is Nvidia its not run on the CPU its run from an Nvidia GPU :\

AMD cant run Physx...............

There should be no need for Physx on my PC when i dont have an Nvidia card.

Oh Dear God.

PhysX doesn't have to be hardware accelerated to be in a game, the majority of games that have PhysX use software/CPU for it.
Imagine Havok, except it's PhysX, and running on the CPU.

Are you being dense on purpose?
Not all PhysX effects are GPU accelerated, and thus it's used in place of Havok (For example) for games, running the effects on the CPU.

I fully understand about hardware accelerated on the GPU, but I'm not on about that.

Flipping clueless.

EDIT : This is basic knowledge.

Physx and physics are 2 different things mate you haven't got a clue what your saying :/.

Physx is Nvidia only and doesn't run via cpu.

EDIT : I'm not confusing PhysX/Physics.

PhysX is predominately on the CPU, there isn't a huge amount of games that use the hardware acceleration (Such as Borderlands 2 etc). It's ran as "Software" mode (Aka, CPU) for the majority of games (But those games can also have hardware accelerated effects that require the Nvidia GPU, again, BL2 etc)

PhysX can run on a CPU, badly. It's massively un-optimized to run in that mode - to the point that it's a complete waste of time to even attempt. There's plenty cross platform libraries that do more interesting stuff, better that will run just fine on any hardware (including HD3000+).

Only if you're trying the hardware accelerated stuff.

Havok is a physics engine and that runs on what? The CPU/Software, in the same way that PhysX does for those effects.

I mean it's simple to cross check what I'm saying.
Look at Nvidia's PhysX game count, then check which of those are hardware accelerated/GPU, so the other 100+ games must be running on what? The CPU.

Your still missing the point, it should not have its own folder on my PC and would be stored in the game folder if this was the case but its not.

PhysX technology is used by game engines such as Unreal Engine (version 3 onwards), Unity 3D, Gamebryo, Vision (version 6 onwards), Instinct Engine,[21] Panda3D, Diesel, Torque, HeroEngine and BigWorld.[22]
As one of the handful of major physics engines, it is used in many games, such as Bulletstorm, Need for Speed: Shift, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Mafia II, Alice: Madness Returns, Batman: Arkham City etc. Most of these games use the CPU to process the physics simulations.
Video games with optional support for hardware-accelerated PhysX often include additional effects such as tearable cloth, dynamic smoke or simulated particle debris.

RED=CPU ONLY PhysX

GREEN=HARDWARE PhysX
 
I know what hes saying but this is still a weird thing why has it installed a Physx application? I dont see this with any other games?

So if it should have its own folder howcome if in install bulletstorm it doesnt get its own folder? Borderlands 2 doesnt have its own Physx folder either, its only Divinity 2 that gets its own folder :\

You get DirectX constantly installing when you install games, even though you can be up to date etc.
If you don't see it with any other game? Maybe you just don't notice it.

End of the day, you're completely wrong.
