To be completely honest, 4 Titan's are a big waste of cash no matter how you look at it. Would you prefer the retailer lied and said they'd recommend spending this much, or kiss your butt to honour frivolous spending?

Thats his opinion which he should be entitled too and if he thinks its a waste of money then thats his opinion, dont mean he is right or wrong.
2x Titans is the sweet spot, 3 is pushing it and 4 is a waste but thats my opinion, dont mean im right or wrong either.
Saying that its Kapstads money and if he wants to buy 4 cards are 24 cards then thats up to him, Its not affecting any of you people so why you bothered so much?

If I could afford 4 titans, I would have 4 titans. Some people can afford them and not have to worry. Same as some people can afford nice cars and some can't.

Because it offends me that somebody has the arrogance to make a comment (tongue in cheek or not) which is belittling somebody for spending their own disposable income on what they want to spend their own income on and justifying it by saying that he won't beat my benchmark anyway.

I would hazard a guess and say it's purely down to a large a population here who moaned, page after page, in the Titan rumour thread about the price and they probably agree with 8 pack. I have no problem with that, it's an opinion after all. What I have a problem with is such an acute opinion coming from a member of staff. It's insulting to me and, as you say, I don't even have one
.And to the ludicrous post above me somewhere saying that it's OK because nobody from OcUK would recommend getting 4 Titans anyway... what a daft thing to say. He's already got the Titans and posted a picture of all 4 of them a couple of pages back.
If they was £599 I would have 2 I reckon, current pricing is out of my range tbh and what I would pay for a GPU.

I would have got two if I had three screens still but I downsized a few months ago. Now I'm rolling in the cheapskate 2*7950 territory

That is true, but I don't think it's the best analogy to use considering how quickly new generation technology is phased out. If you have the cash fair enough, but even then you can't really argue it would be better spent elsewhere.
PCI-E 3.0 8X/8X would be fine.
Possible there's a potential small bottlebeck with PCI-E 2.0 8X/8X. Will need Gregster or one of the other SLI Titan boys to confirm.
Its my largely uninformed opinion that 4 is a huge waste of money as well. Not because I wouldn't get 4 myself, but the price of these things is eye watering. They're not actually out of my reach either, but because I don't really bench, just play, I just can't justify it. And isn't scaling poor above 2 anyway?
