**** Official Titan owners thread. ****

I have just done some tests comparing the Titan at stock to a 680 at stock. Everything was done at 2560x1440 and the maximum settings was used with all physx options at the highest settings. The tech demos are the free versions and run at stock settings.

Cpu is a 2500k @ 4.6ghz with 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3.

680 drivers = 314.07 Titan drivers = 314.09

-Tomb Raider-

680 = Av 25.6fps, Max 31.1fps, Min 14fps
Titan = Av 36.8fps, Max 42.1fps, Min 3.9fps

-Batman AA-

680 = Av 97fps, max 135fps, Min 48fps
Titan = Av 119fps, Max 167fps, Min 54fps

-Batman AC-

680 = Av 65fps, Max 98fps, Min 8fps
Titan = Av 69fps, Max 121fps, Min 6fps

-Metro 2033-

680 = Av 19.33fps, Max 143.06fps, Min 7.02fps
Titan = Av 29fps, Max 164.03fps, Min 9.25fps

-Unigine Valley-

680 = FPS 40.5, Score 1693, Min 22.1 Max 75.7
Titan = FPS 54.6, Score 2282, Min 22.2 Max 105.8

-Heaven 4.0-

680 = FPS 31.8, Score 802, Min 7.2, Max 68.5
Titan = FPS 48.9, Score 1232, Min 24.1, Max 97.3

-3D Mark Firestrike test-

680 = Score 6446, Graphics score 7382, Physics 8138, Combined 2850
Titan = Score 8211, Graphics score 9620, Physics 5778, Combined 3944

While I do think 8-Pack's comment was poorly worded considering he's a staff member, I do think from all the benchmark results that even 1 Titan seems like a waste of money when you consider the alternatives. Mind you to me anything for the sake of benchmarking is a waste of money whether it's £9, £90 or £900.

I think the Titan would be much more tempting if it was priced at current 680 levels. Compared to AMD's range the 680s and 670s look overpriced also.

I've also been assisted by 8-Pack's advice in the past so like to think he's an ok guy really (that said I'm not a fan of arrogance, deserved or not).

I'm definitely going to think twice before buying from OcUK in the future though. I don't expect to pay more for something AND get insulted (is that the word?) by the staff as well. Unless OcUK is the ONLY place that will sell the 900D...

Nice results Moog. Will you be keeping her or selling it to the plumber?

^^ Agreed. My point in a nutshell.

He's apologised though for causing offence to anyone so that's OK for me personally but the problem with a forum is you can't exactly undo the damage already done. But that's OcUKs problem not mine or yours :D.

I have to agree, the price is ridiculous. I'm almost embarrassed to admit to people I own one, knowing that they will know how much I spent on the thing... almost too embarrassed... but then I get my willy out which I've had tattooed with 'GTX Titan Owner Yeah!' and I swing it around and make the kiss my ass gesture before wanging them around the head with me wang for good measure. I get quite apologetic again soon after though... it is overpriced really, I mean.

It will be used in a build and sold in the next few weeks. Tbh I'm quite underwhelmed with the Titan, The drivers are in early stage but it just does not really offer enough over a 680 to justify the expense at 1440p.

It's pretty much in the middle of the 680 and 690 performance wise. It needs multi card multi screen setups to really shine.

Done my cooling mod 27c idle and 69c max in Crysis 3 @default clocks that's with a ~ 1:1 temp/fan curve
Pretty sure it would hold mid-late 50's full fan and OC

Bad time to do it but also added second dust filters to front fans which limit airflow to maybe 50% :eek: airflow (there must be a better filtration method, but I've yet to find it)

Really? My last card was a 4GB GTX 670 @ 1254mhz, the Titan totally wipes the floor with it, all games I've tried are smooth as butter. Amazing performance for a single card imho, it feels as fast as my old 7970 Crossfire setup without the noise / heat. I do think it's pricey but Nvidia have never been known for giving value to the customer. We're basically getting next gen performance now rather than later and it costs...

I would prefer the Titan over any dual setup, I guess it's around 670 SLI performance level with 6GB frame buffer. Not sure how anyone could try this card and be underwhelmed with it's performance. The performance is epic, just a shame the price is also epic. I'm sure it will come down eventually though..

Could always use it, enjoy it, then sell it.

As my tests above show it is only about a third ish more performance compared to a 680. Its a fantastic card I just do not feel on a single 1440p screen you are getting the best from it.

Current games all run pretty much perfect on a 680 so for 1440p a Titan is really not needed.

My opinion anyway.

How does the auto clocking on the Titan work. Do I need to do anything as mine only ever clocks to 966mhz. I thought it was meant to go as high as temps allow ?

Wouldn't mind knowing this myself, mine go's to 1006Mhz this is with gpu boost.

These are the settings I use. As you can see, even with a Heaven4 run the boost clocks stick between 1110 and 1150.

Strange, my 680 was not close to running games @1200P for me :confused:

:D, Not being funny but if your posting bench comparison & conclusions you should really know how the card is designed to work ;) see video below

Have never really played around with overclocking Nvidia cards before. All the tests I did are at stock settings comparing the two cards at stock.

I think I have sussed it out now but I cannot get anywhere near some of the clocks on here. I shall keep fiddling and see what happens.

If it was only boosting to 966mhz stock, you maybe have it running much to hot !
Thought you were getting a superclocked version anyway ? is this that card ?

Nope I have a 680 superclocked ? This is just a regular Titan. It resets the drivers even with only +140 on the core and a temp under 80.c I have not touched the memory.
