Who owns a 350z/370z?

you learn something new every day :) I never noticed that on mine, back in the day when I had mine was told the ecu was locked on UK cars, although im guessing things have changed a bit by now, i do recall getting my but kicked by a R32..........

Having a look at these as an alternative to a Z4, is it just me or do they have different seats for the driver/passenger? The driver's seat has leg grooves, the passenger does not. I thought it was just a dodgy repair I saw on an advert but I've noticed it on the others now!

Just found this, answered my own question!

But the driver's seat differed in several significant ways: Its bottom cushion was firmer to support body weight, and longer to aid thigh support; it featured a mound in the center of the driver's legs to give femoral support for pedal operation; its seat-back cushion had larger wings that hugged the waist during lateral acceleration; and it was relieved below the shoulder area to avoid interfering with the arms during spirited shifting or cornering.

Pretty cool. Gonna keep an eye on these, seem a cheaper alternative to the Z4 but with more potential to ruin my wallet (petrol and consumables wise). Also, the roadster looks absolutely disgusting :(.

I have just started looking at these as a viable dip into RWD as they are in my budget at £6k. Is there anything I should take particular care looking at in regards to body rot, electronics or engine?

Thanks

Edit: Discovered the owners site.

So far I've only really had a chance to sit on the motorway with it for 2 hours so not had a full chance to play with it but already love it :)

If I could get away with 2 seats id have another one in heatbeat :) enjoy looks a good example ;)

Yeah its a bit of a new thing now owning 2 two seater cars! No more lifts!

The car has only had one owner from new and full Nissan SH, seemed very clean with everything other than the usual slight wear on the seats and a few stone chips its the cleanest one I saw!

I found with mine which was a 54 plate one that it sounded a lot faster than it actually was, I remember being gutted when a r32 whipped my ass :( but having said that for the fun factor the noise and everything else it gave me more than made up for that. I bought mine in Bristol, so had a long drive back to Newcastle, I can honestly say it was the best drive of my life, I came back the Alston route having had some one in a saab turbo playing with me on the M6 as soon as we hit the twisty stuff he was a gonna :) Enjoy the car it looks great

Ive had mine for a year and its basically cost me nothing apart from consumables and Service/MOT etc that every car has. I love it TBH. The 2-seats hasnt been as much of a problem as i expected. A mate has an Audi TT which in theory has back seats but in practice......

If you enjoy yours half as much as i like mine you'll be delighted!

If you really need the extra seats then perhaps the GT86 is more suited, less power but still a good fun RWD car

Once my Z is back from repairs (its been a month now, im going insane without it!!!) i'm gonna make an appointment to go test drive the GT86. It seems a very tempting alternative but I cant decide if i could live with the drop in power and going back to an engine you have to redline all the time. Other than that im thinking perhaps my logical progression from the Z is to something more sensible/comfortable like a 3ltr Jag XF

I might be crazy but im giving serious thought to selling my 05 and buying a newer 06/07 Z with around the same mileage. Its likely going to cost me £2.5-3k in the process

Reasons:
Mine is silver, with the opportunity i could switch to Black, Grey, Orange any of which id prefer
Better engine, and on 313hp models its also mounted lower for better center of mavity
Handling reportedly a lot better
RE50 tyres already on the car, as opposed to me upgrading them myself from the crappy RE40s
Already has the LED rear headlamps, again rather than me buying them as an upgrade
Headlights are Bi-Xenon
Fob can actually be set to open both doors, rather than constantly annoying my passenger because I forgot to blip it again to unlock theirs. Also adds opening boot and winding windows up/down from remote.
