some interesting news slowly leaking out at my work(DHL ema), we still don't know the full story but it will come out it always does lol.
we handle the F1 flights from the uk to all races that the cars need to be flown too.
Saturday one of the guys was loading the cars that are on pallets with a forklift and instead of the forks going under the pallet it went under the car, because the cars are tied down to the pellet by the wheels when he lifted the car it broke its back, the car was one of the Caterhams we don't know which drivers it was yet.
i'll hopefully find out more over the next few days .
not a good start for them
Thought they shipped them out in bits and rebuilt them at the circuits? Been said a number of times.
Or is it a team thing? Some can't be arsed to dismantle and rebuild at the weekend.

They will be shipped like this at a guess - http://sphotos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/601052_626525170697697_74129215_n.jpg

I'd be surprised if that forklift accident turns out to be anything other than a false rumour
Pallets aren't that heavy and in dukes picture the car doesn't look like it would snap in half if anything the suspension would break off?
I don't see how anyone could make such a noob mistake anyway
I will make more of an effort this year to eat try the cuisine of the Country where the GP is being held (particular highlights are the Belgian GP and getting some nice Belgian waffles in)
For Australia I'm not so sure they have any real distinctive cuisine but a quick look on the interwebz I found this:
The Australian hamburger is, at its simplest, a fried beef patty, served with shredded lettuce and sliced tomato in a (usually toasted) bread roll. Tomato sauce (similar to ketchup but made with less sugar with a more liquid texture) or barbecue sauce are almost always included. Beetroot, pineapple and fried onions are also extremely common additions. Other frequently-served hamburger options are bacon, a fried egg and cheese. US-style pickles are rarely included, except in burgers from the usual American chains.
So I might try something along those lines![]()
Vegemite?![]()
I'm sure it didn't literally snap in half, but due to the materials and how it would be anchored to the pallet, surely a strong force pushing from underneath would result in at least something cracking?
Fosters?
it wouldnt be pushing from underneath though it would just lift the pallet up by the box surounding the car, do they even ship on pallets? or are thoses boxes the car is enclosed in on dukes photo so forklifts can lift them?
in that stobbarts mercedes thing they just had the cars as in dukes picture and anchored them to the floor of whatever was transporting them?
http://www.formula1.com/inside_f1/understanding_the_sport/5297.htmlFor the non-European 'flyaway' races the logistical effort is considerably more complicated (all Formula One teams being resident in Europe at the moment) as equipment has to be flown out on transport planes. Rather than use conventional aircraft containers, teams have created their own specially designed cargo crates, designed to fill all available space in the planes' holds.
