I used the same e-bay seller you linked, carbonwheels2011. I bought the 50mm Tubular Link Here

I ordered them on 28th Feb, were drilled up to my specs and shipped on 4th March and arrived in the UK on the 13th, it then took 2 days to get them to the Channel Islands from the UK.

I was originally going to use Tufo Tape for ease of use but after reading up I think I'm going to glue them as it's stronger and recommended if you're going to be racing with aggressive cornering.

I love how loud the rear hub is, it will probably be even louder when mounted to the bike!

Coming in well under the quoted weight range then, bonus!
And rapid delivery from across the other side of the planet!

Think it might be wise i go for a cheaper set and then weigh up whether i like tubs or not then upgrade in future or see how the tech develops.
38mm would do me fine as they are lighter and will be less susceptible to side winds than 50mm plus weigh a bit less though less aero benefit.
I'll keep my alloy clinchers anyway so can revert back quickly.

Mostly read good things about the Tufo tape, people who have used it for years with no problems. I guess as you say for crits and the like it would be best going for glue, mine will be purely used for general road riding.

What tyres and brake blocks are you going to use?

Does anyone know where to get replica team bibs/jerseys? I remember finding a site a year or two ago that did old school cycling jerseys (pretty sure they were Chinese made or similar) for around £20, and I only need it for one or two rides so not too bothered about quality.

Prendas do some retro team kit. It's not cheap chinese stuff though.

65 miles & 5361ft. Not bad for someone living around "miles and miles of flat countryside". Wheres your Tom Cruise gifs and smiley faces now :p

wow unlucky, what happened? and where?

A person who had literally just overtaken me decided to turn left without indicating. There was no time to slow, nowhere to go, and I went into the side of the car. All things considered I was pretty lucky because my head bounced off the front wheel and I had a tyre mark down my face to prove it. As much as I hate them, I think it's time to invest in a brain bucket.

Green Lanes.

Whats all the fuss about the MSR? I train in that all winter. And I dont have a team car following handing out hot drinks.

As much as I hate them, I think it's time to invest in a brain bucket.

So you ride without a helmet? Ermmm... OK.

Considering you could have died in a collision like that then yeah, I'd say a helmet might be a good idea.

Haha, it was a good run but average was quite slow as I begrudgingly took my fixed gear riding buddy w/ me he's an absolute machine for doing the whole route fixed. Weather turned out pretty good too, it was raining when I got up and forecast was 60% chance of snow however stayed dry and even got a bit of blue sky towards the end.

Really looking forward to longer evenings and some sunshine.

Sounds like a lucky escape. I rode for quite a while w/ out helmet too when I started. But after having a couple of close calls and seeing the aftermath of some crashes their well worth investing in. I bought a KASK K10 quite expensive but it doesn't give you that 'mushroom head' look and it's so light you don't even notice you have it on.

I ate one of these practically by myself yesterday. So fat...

I'm off to do hill repeats of the rake as penance. :(

Attempting hill repeats without a warmup was a mistake. Got a driving lesson this afternoon so I got the mrs to give me a lift up to the hill rather than do the hour ride up there. I managed two runs before I did my best casper the ghost impression and started shaking like Michael J Fox.

yeah had that happen to me, managed to avoid it tho(low speed) my brother on the other hand crashed into a car a month or so ago, bent bars and sprained wrist.. he was shocked and the guy that was at fault(the driver) gave him 10quid(i know i know) and drove off with a sorry.. funny thing is you can't replace the bars for 10quid..

yeah a helmet is something i have been considering for ages now with all the close calls i had..

It's all the extra holes! They came in a little lighter than I would have liked, I think it's because subconsciously I think a heavier wheel would be stronger. These are stupidly strong and rigid though so I'm sure they'll be fine.

I'm going with Conti GP4000's, I've got the clincher version and they're brilliant. For pads I was going to go with SwissStop yellows, but at over £30 for 4 pads they seem a little pricey, they'd look great with the Boardman though! Instead I'm going to get these, nice and cheap and well reviewed.

Yea i have GP4000S on my alloy rims and wouldnt use any other clincher, they are a little too much £££ in tubular though hence i am looking at the Sprinters instead.....then again push comes to shove i may go for the GP4000 tubs!! lol

Thanks for the pads link, they look great for minimal outlay. Reviews say they seems soft but i guess thats better than chewing the rims up, £8 is cheaper than another set of rims.

Good bike day today!

Had a really good hour and a half on the turbo, reckon my FTP has increased at least 15w in the month I've been using TrainerRoad.

On top of that, weighed myself for the first time in ages and I'm at 66.5kg which gives me a w/kg of 2.35. Not where I want to be yet but definitely an improvement on where I started. I don't plan to drop any more weight so it's all about the power now. Aiming for 3w/kg by year end.

AND.. I got an outrageous bargain on some new handlebars and stem for my new bike.

Oh, and MSR is on. :D
