**** Official Titan owners thread. ****

I just got a Titan to replace my 7970 ghz edition as I game at 2560x1600 and was worried about the cost (even though bit cheaper as I got it in the US). Hooked it up last night and it is amazing, was going to crossfire my 7970 but can honestly say I don't need to now. Every game I've cranked upto ultra settings is running at least 45 fps, much bigger difference than I expected from seeing the benchmarks online.

Performance just seems so much smoother to my eyes even at the higher settings. Was apprehensive about switching to Nvidia as not used one of there cards for about 6/7 years but very happy and worth the money imho

Just done this 3 Titans v 2 GTX 690s on Tomb Raider maxed @1080p

3 x Titans

2 x GTX 690s

Now here is the shocker, look at the memory usage on the GTX 690s @1080p

I was unable to run the GTX 690s @1600p maxed as they were vram limited, this is the first time I have seen this happen in a game. I am off to measure the vram usage on the Titans now @1080p and 1600p

Maxed at 1600P and VRAM limited is quite shocking  How long before this becomes the norm I wonder?

The only good thing I can say about 2gb vram cards is to get good framerates on this game the settings would need reducing so vram would not be a problem, but it can not be too long now until 2gb vram is obsolete.

This was at 5760x1080. It seems that games are now asking for more VRAM and even 3GB at this res is getting close.

I think we bought these Titans just in time.:D

I hope the HD 8 series packs more than 3gb or it won't matter how fast their GPUs are at high resolutions come 2014.

I thought I would look at how Crysis 3 done with VRAM... It seems that 4GB is the minimum needed to be able to have settings on full at 5760x1080

The advent of the New consoles and there games which will require a lot of GPU Ram will finish off GPU's with 2GB of ram for sure.

Games like SKyrim fully maxxed out with all the HD mods already kill the 2GB of ram off on the 690.

The 690 is a great card and not worth going to Titan or from 2x 680's in SLI as its at best a sidegrade, However i will not be buying a GPU again unless it has 4GB minimum of ram per GPU.

Great work!!
Managed to sort out the 4th yet? Or are you still waiting on the PSU?

I have got nearly everything now, the only thing I am waiting for is the case. At the moment according to the tracking it is somewhere in the middle of Germany.

I don't mind being third on this table behind the top 2 guys,

My 3 Titans on air against their 4 Titans on liquid nitrogeon.:D

Innocent question (honest) but I was under the impression that 8-Pack had a higher 3D Mark 11 score than Kaap (that he said Kaap wouldn't beat because of his CPU) but I can't see 8-Pack on there unless he uses a different name?
I realise Kaap is only on 3 cards currently, but I wanted to see how far behind 8-Pack he is and how far ahead of everyone else 8-Pack is.
Or was 8-Pack just speculating that when he wastes money on 4 Titans that he will have a better score because he knows the extra speed from his CPU will give him the advantage?

On the link I posted above, the run was on the entry level. The comical part about it was the 2 Pros above me were using liquid nitrogen on 4 cards, if they had removed a card they would probably have beaten their own scores. This is due to poor sli scaling and the framerates being so high that their CPUs are bottlenecking their scores.

Yes the extra speed of 8 Packs CPU does give him an advantage, not only does it allow the GPUs to hit higher max fps, but it also makes up a big part of the overall P score due to physics and combined.

The best way to compare runs on 3dmark11 is to use the graphics score.

+1 to the bold

I have noticed the water cooled guys are getting more points with Titans (more than I was expecting if I am honest) and the chiller guys are getting even more. If volts can be modded easily, I expect the LN2 guys to be flying as well.

It is all about the cooling :D

All three 3DMark 11 present records have been smashed by Andre Yang wielding four Titan’s and a Rampage IV Extreme!

The four GeForce GTX Titan’s were ran between 1.4-1.45GHz with memory running at 7.1GHz (effective), while the Core i7-3970X ran at just over 5.7GHz. Naturally everything was super-chilled using LN2.

I just copied this off of the link above, they are running those Titans @1.4 - 1.45ghz. That must be some serious volts.:D
