Pc graphics. No where near as good as consoles !

Well that is ok then as long as you dont think your 7850 will last for the whole time the PS4 is out because it is similar to PS4 graphics card :P

next gen cards probably will have a good chance if you wanted ps4 settings, fps and aa :D

PS4 gpu is only 1.84tlfops ? about the same as a 6870 ;)

pc high end cars right now do 4-5tflops

I've confirmed that there are 8 Jaguar based AMD CPU cores inside the PS4's APU. The CPU + GPU are on a single die. Jaguar will still likely have better performance than the PS3/Xbox 360's PowerPC cores, and it should be faster than anything ARM based out today, but there's not huge headroom going forward.

A card such as a GTX670 or 7950 would probably be OK .... but it is not the same for PC and consoles you cannot compare them directly because of things me and other people have already mentioned in this thread.

No doubt.

Either way I wont be buying a PS4 until GT6 comes out :p

Dont forget that 9/10 PC games are GPU dependant meaning your mobo, cpu and ram will last a good 3-5 years without upgrade.

my 920 i7 is something like 3-4 years. not showing its age at all clocked at 3.8ghz.

In that space of time all i have upgraded is my GPU once and added a few more rams.

gpu from 260 to 480gtx(note, my 480gtx died so they sent me a 580gtx which is only a minor upgrade from a 480gtx) and from 3gb to 6gb ram.

Thats it

I am at that horrible stage where I now need an entire PC upgrade but do not have any money.... I don't think my Q6600 and 5870 is going to cut it and there is not much point upgrading the 5870 until I have a new CPU bad times :S

Well if there's one thing to thank Sony for, its delaying the release if the PS3, back whenever that was. This irritated me into building my 1st gaming machine. Now on my 2nd platform, went from 775 to 1155 with several upgrades along the way.

Can't go back now!

A 2gb 7850 runs 1.75 TFLOPS so the PS4 gpu is more like an overclocked 7850 or an underclocked 7870.
Plus running in a closed system it's far more capable.

2.56tflops at 1ghz like I'd imagine most 7850's are ?

most impressive thing about the ps4 is the memory

Will be interesting to see what the developers can get out of it...

Also I wonder what effect it will have on PC memory... I guess we might start seeing 4GB GPU and massive textures in games.... This will make games huge as well...

Are we definitely getting a standard 1080p on the new consoles? If not I might be put off... I'm already considering upgrading to 1440p because 1080p isn't doing it for me.

at least 2 dev companies have said they are sticking with upscaled 720p on next gen consoles and also sticking with 30fps, epic(gears of war) and capcom.

but for applications you can compare apples to apples though, if you run a pcgame at 720p capped to 30fps it will perform as well, most games are gpu bound, os overhead is almost completely cpu.
An i5 and 7850 will give you 30fps as well as a console when run at 720p, "true" 1080p console games do not exist yet, and judging by industry comments wont for the next gen consoles either, some ps3 and 360 games claim to be 1080p but they are actually rendered at 960x1,080 not 1920x1080 and scaled by the hardware (the same as if you set a games resolution to lower than native on your 1080p PC monitor) enabling them to claim 1080p without rendering the equivalent pixels.

Hopefully some devs will do some nice 60fps 1080p games so console gamers can witness fluid graphics.

720p up-scaled at 30fps seems pretty disappointing considering the ps4 is a decent leap from the other consoles

well whether it stays like that further in the consoles lifespan when developers get to grips remains to be seen, but the fact is to run at 1080 instead of 720 and maintain fluid gameplay they would have to make tradeoffs elsewhere, in things like AA or textures, especially when most games will be targeting the lower xbox 720, same reason why there were very few games that used the ps3 hardware to deliver better graphics than the 360 despite the ps3 having superior hardware.
I mean for example the ps4 technically supports 4k res, but if we ever see an actual 4k game for the ps4 ill eat my hat.
