Zombie attack - what weapon would you use?

Sledge Axe.

It's a sledge hammer and an axe combined, what more could you want?

All those talking about swords are likely to achieve is either cutting their own or their friends legs off, or having to leave it when it inevitably gets stuck in a zombie skull.

Axe/hatchet
Heavy enough you can use it to create space, bludgeon, imbed and use as a survival tool to build shelters etc.
robust and unlikely to brake.

ice axe would be my first port of call (I've got 2 of them)

Realistically it would have to be some sort of bladed weapon like
- Chinese Twin Hook Sword (basically a crowbar with a blade/handle), 2 work in tandem to extend range
- Kyoketshu-Shogei - basically a large dagger/blade on a chain
- twin bladed dual edged katana. katana is much better than a broadsword if used properly. Doubt the twin blade would do much but it looks cool lol
- Tian Po Sword - sword with a handle that slides so it can become a double ended sword giving twice the cutting 'range'
- bat'leth, if it's good enough for klingons, it's good enough for a zombie :)

Firearm wise mp5sd6 and hope I don't run out of ammo - appropriate 9mm rounds are relatively plentiful even in this country. Doesn't attract attention like a shotgun and many other unsupressed weapons would, good for mobility unlike most shotguns, swords, etc. and still packs enough punch to stop unarmoured targets in their tracks with the ability to put up a decent rate of fire or use for clubbing if needed that most pistols would be more lacking at.

If we are talking about stuff other than guns, id go with something along these lines. Simple is better.

and blades get stuck in bodies

Serious response:

Halberd, but not too weighty. What's the one used in martial arts? Make a carbon fibre compound version with a titanium blade, keeps them far enough while still light enough to be able to defend close.
