Bioshock 3 - Infinite

Same here. All through the Songbird sequence I was getting at least 80fps, then I look at a wall and I am getting about 45!

Give the story time. It is certainly very confusing, but that is what is so great about it!....there will no doubt be resolution by the end though. I am fully expecting to be mind****ed, and have no idea what happened at first:D

I was just reading the PC Gamer review(which is really funny btw), and it has aline which I thought sums up the premise really well-

Haha, sounds good then :) Trying to keep up with it! So much to take in! Just have that horrible feeling I have missed something haha.

Its a fun game but I don't see how its getting the scores it is.

I mean it looks nice enough but there's just something missing and possibly the story isn't grabbing me yet but I'm not getting the same wow factor of the first Bioshock. The enemies (so far) don't make sense to me. For example, if you were on the run with the City's prize possession, surely the whole place would be on lockdown and each area crawling with people looking for you but half the time people talk to you as if you're just another citizen or ignore you. In BS1 and 2 the splicers, big daddies and the NPCs felt right. Where are the crazy characters? Where's the hacking and lockpicking mini games? Why is it named Bioshock at all? Part of me is hoping it will be linked in some way to BS 1 as it does feel more like a prequel and the timeline means it could be I guess. I purposely stayed away from reading about the game before playing it so I've no idea if is linked at all. Anyway, aside from the very original look and setting of the game, it just feels a bit shallow.

Still, I'm only probably a third of the way through (judging by the audio diaries) so maybe it will pick up and become epic but one other thing that's bugging me. When did vases and other breakable objects become indestructable? This game got 10/10 in a lot of reviews?? :p

I'd give it an 8.5 so far.

I get odd stuttering at really random places. Huge fights and open areas will be a solid 60fps (vsync on), but I can walk into a certain corner of a room, or face a certain door and the fps just drops... Not game breaking, but really annoying haha.

Anyway, feel a little lost in the story...

This is where I'm at as far as I can tell:

You got the latest NVIDIA drivers? serious improvement for me.

So played for around 2 hours now...absolutely loving the game and the new "plasmids" ok not called that but still :p

The game looks absolutely gorgeous and runs fantastic on the spec in sig. Hopefully it will be as enjoyable all the way to the end in what can only be described as quite the immersive world.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed my first session of Bioshock Infinite. As I said earlier, just the right balance of freedom and scripted moments. The game runs very sell, looks great and the gameplay has been great so far...definitely an improvement over the first two games, especially the combat.
The setting is incredible, and is great to explore, and there is freedom to explore. The story is great as well, very intriguing(Who are those two???) and the characters are good. As reported elsewhere, Elizabeth is a great NPC companion who has seemed quite helpful too, and a great character. She hasn't got stuck on scenery at all for a start!
I love the way that you can decide for yourself how much story you get in places.

Look forward to playing more when I get the time!

edit- One thing though, it seems a bit like Vigours(plasmids) are a bit more of an afterthought in this game, whereas they were a major part of the narrative in the first game. Personally, I would have liked a bit more focus on them

so i just installed it & tried the maxium Benchmark DX11 + DOF.

1920x1080
Average FPS 111.06
Min FPS 36.70
Max FPS 241.13

not bad 7970 3770k:D

In the good old days they charged around the same. About £100 is wrong as bf3 + premium was around £70 at best. Expansion pack and booster packs added £32 to the £30 bf2 retailed at. That the devs/publishers have got greedier is clear, don't recall any free maps so far in bf3. At least in bf2 they gave you 4 free maps but a i guess it was owed after the shambles the patchwork was.

Is the game good without dlc?

Ok you are right... I wish they did that with every game and that they all cost £70+

I have no problem with DLC if they actually add something which could have not been in the original game in the first place....

Do me a very quick favor please, go in game, get fraps up, put vsyn on and everything to ultra. Then come out of the option (barber), main menu. Should be cruising at 60fps. Go into the barber, watch it dip to 30... There are certain micro areas like this in the game that just drag the game down if you have dynamic shadows on lol. Such as doors, walls or even hallways. Just random parts of the game.

What the **** is this unlocker doing, it's taking absolutely ages and using up gigs and gigs of HDD space :/

I think the game data comes heavily compressed and is stored in the steamapps/downloading folder. This appears to be around 10.8gb. This then gets decompressed to the depotcache folder which is around 13.4gb for me atm. Presumably this then needs to get moved into the correct steamapps/common folder.

Pretty painful if you have a 250gb SSD for all your steam games like I do! Had to uninstall or shift some folders around just to get it to unlock.
