I always open and close my hand several times near my windscreen and then when I look in my rear-view mirror I often see the break lights come on after a short while (probably after they figure out what I was doing :p), I learnt to do this when my family went across France and a biker did the same to my family and saved us a ticket. In my 5+ years of driving though I've only ever had 2 other people return the favour. Does anyone here warn others, and if so, how do you do it?

I had someone wildy flashing their lights at me today, a noble attempt to help i'm sure but it actually just made me look at the dash to see if I had somehow knocked my high beams on or something :p

It was only once i'd clocked the camera myself that I realised what he had been doing.

Fair play to the guy for trying though, it was one of those little tiny mini-gatso cameras where they park the van out of sight so you don't notice them too early and just around a blind bend, he must have been raking it in tonight. It was a 40 stretch between two NSL stretchs and so many people just carry on at NSL, or aggressively tailgate you when you choose not to.

I got pulled about 4 years ago for flashing warning people as I flashed an unmarked police car rofl. He turn around, followed me, pulled me while I was in with my mum and dad. Basically I said I was flashing saying hello to a friend from the running club lol. He knew and I knew it was bs, but for once he let me off.

Aggressive main beam when they are on snake pass, seems to do the trick. I'm greatful when others do it for me too.

This one is NSL round a corner into a 30, the camera van sits right after the corner, most normal drivers would see the 30 sign and just coast off the speed using the corner to help, of course this means you'll still be doing ~40 when the camera zapps you though. It annoys me because it is there simply to make money, nobody has ever been killed there and there are never any accidents.

Not sure what these 'getting pulled over' comments are all about, exactly what can they do you for? Helping out the fellow man?

Hindering a police officer in his duties. Yes it's complete BS but it does happen.

Edit: beaten like a ginger stepchild it would seem.

I don't. They shouldn't be speeding.

I don't, if your daft enough to go fast enough to warrant a fine then you deserve a fine.

How do you get to this higher state of being, teach me the ways of never ever ever speeding, please!

Well it's remarkably easy to do if you want to :p

If you find yourself speeding by accident then there's something wrong with you, it's really not hard to judge your speed in a car or pay attention to signs.

This is how I see it

Guy drives into 30 zone at 40mph and I don't flash him - drives right past the speed camera and continues to speed through this area all week until he gets his surprise through the post. The camera did nothing to prevent the driver from driving through the 30 mph zone at an "unsafe" speed and therefore all the children in the area were at risk

However if I were to flash

Guy drives into 30 zone and notices a friendly motorist warning him of his "unsafe" speed and as such lowers it to a "safe" speed. The children are now safe, and will more than likely be safe in future as the driver now knows that a camera is likely to be lurking in the bushes...

The flashing scenario is safer, just doesn't earn the £££
