*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

You people are getting far too concerned with the fractional differences between the 1st and 2nd fastest phones available especially considering its clear that you will never, ever notice the difference!

Dont see the point of cancelling an order for the slower CPU, theres bound to be an overclock kernel come out at some point, not that it will need it however.

^ Neither Exynos 5 Octa or Snapdragon 600 have built in modems.

Agreed, but at least Sam have put one on the S600 variant whereas the octa hasn't on the standard in production octa variant so a separate octa will have to be put together at a later date if it is ever gona get lte, this obviously isn't guaranteed to happen, who knows what inhouse problems caused the initial shortfall of octa's it may be related to lte modem addition difficulties, as I say as Sam aren't talking no one outside their system knows.

Edit to add in the above when I say octa I mean the phone variant rather than the chip, I should have used their numeric designations, soz.

I don't mind the Snapdragon SoC but I'd prefer the Exynos. My only concern with it is how fluid is the A15 'changeover' as their was a report on it not being as fluid as the One in general operations...

Looks simply amazing overall. Camera especially looks incredibly detailed in those outdoor shots even when zoomed in, in fact I would say it kicks the crap out of the HTC One.

Only issues I can see are:

From here
One thing we did notice is that there are fewer manual settings - the Galaxy S II and S III used to let you tweak all photo parameters, while the Galaxy S4 just gives you an ISO setting.
What the hell? That is a pretty big omission, why would they do that?

One thing that made a negative impression was the narrow field of view - it's much narrower than that of the Galaxy S III and the HTC One. The difference is pretty notable too - the Galaxy S4 fits a lot less in the frame than its rival and its closest competitor.

Also a little concerning. The point of a cameraphone is using it at close-quarters... that is a MASSIVE difference in useable frame space!

However thus is AWESOME...

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a wide array of advanced features and applications that really make it stand apart from other flagships.
One of the coolest apps is called Group Play. It shares various multimedia across multiple devices in the same room, but unlike DLNA it's interactive.

Group Play
One use case is to play a music track on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and use multiple phones as speakers. You can pick the role of each phone (e.g. left channel, right) all the way up to surround sound. This way you can control the music from one phone but use the loudspeakers of all.
How friggin cool is that!

In my opinion this represents a clear step up from the SGS III if not in terms of looks in terms of the performance and what they have packed inside it. Definitely going to upgrade to this in June. :)

Although I will probably never ever use that group play app, it is quite a nifty idea.

Due an upgrade on the 4th of April, may as well wait another couple of weeks and get me one of these

There's bound to be volume short fall if Samsung are churning out 28nm iPhone/iPad chips too. :) ...and these smaller markets will make good beta testers for ARMs Big.Little software.

It's worth noting the key hardware difference between GS4 and competitors is the use of ~50% faster memory not CPU power (LPDDR3 1600?) That's where any speed differences will come, esp for gaming.

Agreed, now I initially thought the i9500 had ddr3 and the i9505 had ddr2 then y/day it was forcefully said both had ddr3, I trust your tech views in particular so if you're sure i9500 has ddr3 and not the i9505 I'll go with that.:)

I was pretty sold on the s4 after the Russian blog, the gsmarena review was unbelievably good and pushed me over the edge into buying mode but evil regulators and corporate interests are going to force me to put up with hspa+ for another phone purchase when I wanted to try 3's free lte now but the i9500 looks too good to pass up on more so as I don't ROM even when I root.
