*breaking news* Boston Marathon explosions

to be fair, the living brother is spotted on video, leaving the scene after the explosions, still holding his back pack, as opposed to the 'FBI' guy seems to have lost his.

Saw this on some youtube video, the dude did sound like an Alex Jones tribute, a total wackjob.

It just shows 2 stills. One of 'Suspect 2' fleeing the scene, supposidly you can makeout the outline of a backpack.

The second shot is of the Blacwater security dude running off without a backpack. Hardly conclusive.

Good grief. I just wonder how many tablets these people are taking in the mornings?

These people seem to completely avoid common sense. So if you were part of a private military company and had been tasked with either carrying out the bombing or being involved in it somehow, would you wear your easily identifiable uniform, including caps with company logo on? The very idea is ridiculous.

I think what you're saying is true but it does bring up other questions like
who is he?, if he was in a private military company why was he running away
when the runners themselves was running to help people?. where is his back pack(i can't see it in that one shoot)?

You don't think there is a chance of rehabillitation?

Well it depends on the individual. but yes, rehabilitation is very possible. In the case of religious extremism?

Rotting in prison for the rest of his life was simply to demonstrate an extreme VS the death penalty.

I also think that some crimes require punishment as well as rehabilitation attempts. Perhaps that makes me a backward thinking person.

You think soldiers dont run when bombs go off nearby? They are trained to run to cover. They had no idea it was going to stop when it did, so them running makes perfect sense.

Again, they are trained and runners are not. If everyone had run to help, the entire place would have been bogged down by people who had no idea what they were doing.

Which photo are you talking about? Perhaps he dropped it to aid easy escape from further bombs?

Sure, ask questions about why they were there..but to say they planted the bombs, in full company uniform and right out in the open..Its just silly.

I did say I agreed with you.The army people I know wouldn't run, but they are British solders :)

Yeah, sorry :o just more the conspiracy theorists that i get amused by.

They dont run for cover? That goes against all the training ive ever read about then :o

So british army in afghanistan and iraq just stand about when mortars and the like come in? really? :o Surely theyd seek cover, wait until the explosions had stopped and then evaluate the situation?

Incoming rounds are different to an IED going off.

Also.. how do you know where those guys were running. They may have been running for medical supplies or something. Let's remember a vast number of people WERE running away. Also, if they are bomb team, they could have thought it was a chemical attack or something, so getting the hell out of dodge.

Well there were two explosions, getting into cover in case there was a third or even more would seem to be to be a sensible course of action.

Its not a loophole, its the public safety exception. Its quite an old thing i believe and isnt just a terrorism thing. If there is a danger to the public, the police can ask the guy questions before reading him his rights

It is still a loop hole... and I'm not seeing the urgency here other than lots of political and public pressure to find out answers...

An account of two ex-soldiers from the marathon said they immediately crouched down, and discussed whether the explosions were likely IED's. They did not run for cover.

People's reactions will be different. Contractors are not -usually- required to put their lives on the line.

I wonder what the kid is telling the FBI?

'Loophole', to me, implies something that is shady and used to somehow get around the law. I dont think this is that. Its an established legal precendent.
It is for 48 hours after arrest. The urgency was the fact that they needed to know if there were more bombs or more people involved.

After the 48 hours he should definitely be read his rights.

and the people who are calling for him to be treated as an enemy combatant are a disgrace.

How far from the blast were they? The contractors were very close to the blast were they not? Id imagine that plays into the decision.

Contractors are almost exclusively ex military arent they?

I think so much damage has been done by the internet sleuths over this whole issue that people should just chill out and wait until some facts come out.

lol, I'm not their mother, I don't know how far they were. The cops were not running either it seemed. This is going off on a pointless tangent though.

A family member of mine rescued two guys in iraq when boombs was going off, the guy came back to the burns unit at the QE in brum.
He did the same again in afghanistan and got a medal for it in germany and was mentioned in the queens book(what ever that is).

He then got transferd to a unit that protects VIPs in both iraq and afghanistan. Back on topic :)
